dont know about the ipod part, yet I am pretty sure as you only have a wire adaptor the connects2 will work for the parrot and make it work on the steering controls.

You have a choice. OEM HU with steering controls and parrot with steering controls via connects 2.

Or like mine after market HU with steering controls but then this parrot conversion will not work on steering, but will work standard if that makes sense

Guys, please help. I got the CTPPAR007 with parrot ck3000 and installed it on my X5 which seems to be supported. I got it working but I got the volume too low to be usable while driving and the R/T does not end the call.

Somebody mentioned that Parrot comes with an audio amplifier which for some reason it is not good enough in mine. The volume controls work though.

I guess none of you had problems with the volume? Can somebody explain how the CTPPAR007 works? Do you know if the speakers are connected directly to the parrot or it goes through the car/HU amplifier. I though of adding an additional amplifier but what are the wires that I can cut/tap into?

I just assume that CTPPAR007, when in phone mode switches the speakers from the HU to the parrot amplifier. Is that the case?

My car is equipped with DSP. Would this be the problem? thanks.

Hi,

I noticed in the video/pictures that this is done an non-UK car (i'm guessing American?), will this work the same for the UK cars which are right-hand drive instead of left-hand drives (outside UK)?

Reason why I am asking is in case the wiring is different in the UK models.

Anyone in the UK done this?

cost me 100 ish, but still a great mod for the cost...

Given the other thread going about shark fins, think it's nice that you can do this and get the functionality without having to have the sharkfin plonked on the back... unless you like it and want to add it yourself.

Couple of techie question for anyone else whose done this mod.

1) recently, literally last couple of days, noticed that the radio cuts out for 1/2 to 1 second sporadically, sounds like they are censoring the radio. Didn't notice it when I first did the mod, so it might be the case of one of the potholes on the road has dislodged something, aerial connection perhaps. Just wondered whether anyone else has had this issue and knows how to fix it before I start taking it apart.

2) I tried altering the settings on the parrot kit, just lowering the volume of the womans voice, it remembers it after i've done it, but reset's itself when next starting the car. Anyone else noticed this?

Note: only other mod I have that could have an effect is that mine has the BMW ipod integration kit fitted on the same loom.

Cheers

Jayse

I have all the parts to insall mine, but am having a little trouble getting teh center vent out.

It does not seem to want to release and I am afraid to apply anymore prreasure as I fear it might break.

Is this nnormal, or is there a trick to get it to come out.

Thanks for the help

I had the same problem. I used brute force and a flathead screwdriver for leverage. I think I attacked one side first then once that popped out I attacked the other side. It took me fooking ages to get it out!!

Glad to know I am not the only one, This post, btw is outstanding on this topic, and one other post make it sound like the bloody vent is to just pop straight out with little or no effort.

I mucked around last evening trying to get the vent out and even tried to find some other places to put the wires, I can say after much frustration there is no other place that the cable is going to fit and allow the radio to be installed correctly.

After becoming fed up, I put everything back together and called it a night.

I will give it another go tonight after work and try a little more force.

I do much appreciate the advice you have provided.

I don't think I put my wires in the vent area at all in the end. There is JUST enough room to squueze the connectors into the void between the centre console and the glovebox. However I can remember if this would have been possible if I hadn't taken the vents out.

All I can say is that it took me a lot longer to fit it than DelMarco stated it would lol.

At last I was successful at my efforts.

It did take a lot longer then I had thought, but I am meticulous at what I do.

My only complaint is that the microphone does pick up a fair amount of road noise that makes it difficult for the device to clearly understand what I am saying.

Hi mate,

I have the connects2 module in my car, and have a quick question for you. Do you find that sometimes, when you press the speech button on your steering wheel to "Say a command" that the voice saying "say a command" comes through your phone not the speakers? Then when you turn your car/bluetooth off and back on it will come back through the car speakers?

Most of the time it will come through the car speakers as normal but the odd time it comes through the phone handset?

Just want to know that its not just mine?

Thanks!

I know exactly the problem you are having. When I installed my Sirius and iPod Data Module last month in my car I forgot to unplug the radio and the battery. And since then my Bluetooth kept send the commands thru the phone instead of thru the car speakers like it did before.

To fix this issue I first unplugged the car's battery and unplugged all the radio/bluetooth components, then I replugged everything and finally I reconnected the battery and everything is working perfect now.

I think at the parrot install for some year cars or radio unplugging the battery may be required before plugging in the components. My kit worked perfect for three months after I first installed it, but the minute I connected other newer components to the radio like Satellite Radio and iPod, and I even upgraded the radio itself to the 02/2006 Alpine CD53 version at some point, then the Bluetooth kept sending the commands to the phone instead of the car.

Everything is working fine now.
