Possible Cheaper And Easier Alternative To Double Din.

Recommended Posts

Yeah alpine already do a seperate screen and brains unit which gets round the heater cutting. Last time i checked though the user interface loooked like an old atari which is a shame cos their stuff sounds amazing.

I took my atari console out of the loft while cleaning up. now all i need to find is the power supply

Sweet! That price is pretty reasonable I'd say, given the cost of the double-din fascia and a standard double-din unit...

Research and Development mate.

I also think £630 is pretty reasonable when you do the comparisons.

OEM stuff is gonna be at least a grand and then you have to do the retro fit which is a ball ache - trust me, i'm redoing the wiring loom in mine as we speak.

Double din you are looking at spending £400-1k on a HU, £140 on bezel, all the adaptors to go with it, then you've either gotta cut the heater box yourself or pay someone to do it which will cost $$$.

Get some pics up once you've got it in mate, could be a trend setter right there. :D!

How come Marty, thought your M came with Nav?

No mate, put the Mk4 in within a week or so of buying the car. Mine was a really weird spec that had 16:9 and TV but no nav.

Marty - you having issues like I am???

On another note, that systems looks ace! How mch would I get for my parts?? May have to do some thinking!!!

I think i'm nearly there now mate. John has been a massive help and managed to source a Mk 3 nav loom that i can butcher to add to my exisitng loom.

I have bought a full retro fit loom also but looks like this may go up for sale in a week or so.

Cheers bud.

Made up the additional wiring loom tonight, got the cluster out and ran the wires roughly into position.

I'm hoping to find some daylight hours tomorrow to see if it all works!
