m7alj
Yes definitely a huge difference in how it feels and looks. The OEM looking knobs are exactly like it and has a rubberized feel to it too. Here is my install from a few days ago these photos have been posted in australia by a guy as well
thejames
Hi guys. I'm in the process of looking at 330ci's at the moment. I've read lots about the Dynavin units and watched lots of (predominantly German!) videos on youtube. They really seem to split opinion! I'm actually looking at a car tomorrow which comes with OEM Nav. Now if it's anything like my old e38's Nav, then I'm not gonna expect too much. Added to the price of an Intravee, or the clumsiness of the cheaper Denison units, I'm very tempted by the new V5 Dynavin D3-MMI. Possibly with the RVC option too. I wanted to know what the Dynavin owners' thoughts were, now you've had your units a while. Any problems? Any regrets? Appreciate any input. Cheers, James. Jorge-
there is another thread with a bit more recent info a seller on E46fanatics (have a search on there) has everything you could ever need to know about them.
Matt_330CI
Excellent thread revival! What's the story behind the price change and TTints then? Are TTints the only UK seller of these things? Tried going on ebay seatching and all I could find was the £600 one for, you guessed it, TTints! FeelingLucky
You really need to look on E46Fanatics, there is a wealth of information on there. In the ICE section you will see several threads about the older versions and the new V5. There is a dealer (Jeff) operating out of California (Fresno if memory serves) who ships all over the world. This is where mine came from, he charged me £450 inc shipping. This really puts the £750 TTwa*s charge into perspective. Most users seem really happy (myself included), some have even removed factory Nav to install a Dynavin and regard the upgrade as well worthwhile. I'm currently running TomTom AND iGo on mine, and both are VASTLY superior to BMW Nav

Also, I have the OE nav, but it's badly installed, out of date and malfunctioning so am considering this modernise and simplify it all.
thejames
Thanks FL, I'll check out the fanatics site. How easy was it to install tomtom? I've looked for a guide but thus far have only found people gloating that they have it! Tomtom would be a real deal-clincher for me. Re: importing one, 1. I'd be worried about being shifted by the taxman, 2. There's little comeback - although I've read some of Jeff's posts and the guy's a legend, 3. Fitting. Definitely wouldn't be happy about fitting it myself.

Although all depends on the exchange rate at the time of purchase. 2) Outside of Ebay, I've never paid PayPal for anything up front before, and to be honest, I was also sceptical of paying some American £450 and trusting to luck. BUT after following Jeff's thread for a few months, I've never felt more secure. Here is clearly a guy who has spent time and effort building up a first rate reputation. 3) Whilst it's by no means for the faint hearted, it IS straight foreward. Jeff will email you a fitting guide complete with pictures, that will guide you all the way through. Don't be afraid to have a go, electrically it really is just plug and play. Installing TomTom was a five minute job, simply copy the files to a MicroSD, then change the path to the exe file.
Jorge-
I'd even offer to help people fit these after I do. Seems a total doddle from Jeffs guide!
Matt_330CI
TTints mention you need a seperate cable if you have BMW nav system. They charge an extra FIFTY quid for it - for a cable - is it made from gold and diamonds?!!!
suhail97
That's the TTints extra tax. Probably started out as a £5 connector but once they realised demand was there the price got bumped.
Jorge-
Shame for them really, if they joined up here like Jeff and became the UK supplier at a decent price they'd mint it.
suhail97
They got a bit smart too, when the nav needed a fix bragging "thats the benefit of a UK supplier" etc. Didn't do themselves any favours on here to be honest
Matt_330CI
Think I'll go direct to the states. Havent looked in to this Jeff fella just yet but will do at some point. Any one know where in the states he's based and if he works from a shop of some sort? I have colleagues that go to America on a regular basis, never know, might be able to beg them to get me one when they're out there lol.
Jorge-
He owns a Car Audio company, best just to look for him, threads have been linked on here before, but here they are to make sure every thread mentioning TTints is avoided towards him lol http://www.e46fanatics.com/forum/member.php?u=166857 http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.ph...35#post12265435 http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.ph...55#post12273055

When mine was in transit I was tracking it on a day to day basis (sometimes several times a day) And my joy at seeing it sprint across America, and then the Atlantic was short lived when it landed in UK and sat in a Parcel Farce warehouse for five days A clear illustration of the differences between the US and UK postal services. Matt_330CI
Does any one actually know what or who Dynavin are? If you google Dynavin pretty much all you get is linkes to this place and e46fanatics It looks eerily the same as the Higain (sp) units on Ebay for quite a lot less and I found some other ones on UK websites that look the same for about £450 - £500 that again look the same. Is it possible these are all the same units made side by side but labelled up differently?
Jorge-
Yes, same with all chinese s***e. Difference being the suppliers of the Dynavin (go to their site, Jeff links it in hundreds of his posts if you've read any?!) they actually take on board comments for their next version, like building in the line thingy for the noise, steering controls, changing nobs to look BMW style, colour schemes to match a bit better. Matt_330CI
I had a flick through and also at Jeffs direct website for supplying. Sadly I only really browse the net when I'm at work (I know, bad isnt it!) so it restricts me to fleeting views. I'm off for a couple of weeks soon, will have a proper read through the self titled epic thread on fanatics.
