Dynavin V3 Installed At Ttints.

Recommended Posts

I have to say I am warming to this more and more, yet a little dissapointed there is now the price tag of £650 yet they do offer installing included, but many like me live to far away to take it for install and I am guessing you have to source and fit your own relocation panel and if I am doing that, I just as well install it myself. If it takes them 2 hours(ish) to install and demo, that to me should bring the unit only price down a fair chunk :)

To me im glad i got this unit fitted im sorry but everyone seems to be going on about the price if you dont like the price dont buy. Its supply & demand remember ttints only got 25 units & dont know when anymore are coming in so they knew they would sell what they had so as a business can you blame them for getting what they can and remember the e46 is not a car made anymore so there wont be many made

Not an employee of TTints are you :P.

It's a hard thing to advertise effectively. I think that the majority of their market is on this website. Ok they may sell the 25 but I wonder how many others they will sell after that if they alienate this websites users?

I was only joking pal.

I see where you are coming from but I think that people don't want to settle for second best. £650 is a lot to just settle with. I think people would just find it that little easier to live with the niggles and uncertainty for closer to the £500.

To be fair though, £650 including all the fitting is not too bad.

TTints state that they will convert from a single to double din, does that mean that if i want one i dont need to buy the relocation frame ?

A lot of people don't want fitting though!

No you hbe to buy the relocation kit yourself if you want a perfect fit.

All,

Does anyone have a pic or know how big a gap you get if you dont get a new relocation unit when going from a standard business CD to one of these units ? I have spoken to TTints and they say you get a very small gap anyway and people normally dont bother with the relocation unit.

Interested to hear opinion and very interested in photos of anyone who has not had one installed.

Update - I got a picture from TTints of an install without the relocation unit, i think i will have to get one as i would not want to see that gap below the heating controls. I'll link the picture into this later.

One question, how can i confirm which relocation unit i need from the 2 types ?

Thanks

I paid £53.68+VAT as well mate. I originally ordered the 18mm unit in error and that was about £30. I have no idea why the 16mm is so much more expensive :P

Yep I did exactly the same! Felt a bit ripped off but it's just not right without everything in the right place.

2012 is the year analogue tv switches over to digital tv then you will get freeview chanels without the need for satalite dish , cable box or freeview box basicly the dynavin will only pick up tv in the areas that have switched over i was in wales at the weekend & picked up freeview chanels as they have switched over hope this explains it & im in highgate n6

Eh? Everyone will need a freeview box. Digitial TV is exactly that, a digital signal. The digital signal then needs to be decoded - hence the freeview box (or built in decoder like on new TV's). I honestly, do not see how whether or not they have cancelled the terrestrial signal would effect it or not. The Dynavin has a digital receiver. It will show digital tv. Simples.

It may be that the digital signal isn't very good in your area, but it should be find being a London postcode (us Londoners always get the best signal and fastest internet :D ).

i cauld go to crystal palace & park right under the main transmitter & still wouldnt pick it up if you google digital tv coverage this will explain all

There may be a small capital outlay for additional equipment (such as a set-top box) required as some television sets are not capable of decoding the digital signal.

In order to receive Freeview, you have two options:

1) Purchase a new television that has a built-in Freeview receiver. This may be more of an added expense than you had previously hoped for, but if you were planning to replace your television anyway, this is probably the best route to go.

2) Purchase a special set-top box that allows your existing television to receive digital television signals. If you do not wish to purchase an entirely new television then this option will probably appeal to you and it will work just as effectively. Digital set-top boxes are currently available for purchase and will allow your existing television to receive the digital new programmes now and after the switchover.

Taken from the Big Switchover site. There is a digital signal being directed at my house. It comes down the aerial and hits my freeview box, at which point it gets decoded and displayed on my screen.

With the Dynavin, the signal hits the aerial, hits the box and then gets converted and shown on screen.

It's really simple in my mind and I can't find any reading that says anything different. If yours isn't working then I'm clearly missing something. I don't understand how a digital receiver can't pick up a digital signal and be displayed on the unit. I tried googling it but I'm either misreading or not reading the correct parts. Can you point me in the right direction as I'd like to understand this fully. (I like to learn!)

ETA: Once the switchover has completed there will no longer be any analogue signals; equipment that is designed to receive only analogue signals will not work with the new digital signal. <--- That is from the Digital UK website. Trust me, you will need a freeview box (or satellite or cable or Digital ready TV)
