Routledge
A few days ago I took the plunge and bought myself my first BMW. This is my 9th car this year after a struggle to find the right car, with all the others (aside from a Golf and an Astra) being Jap cars (Civics, CRX's etc). I've purchased an Automatic 318ci Coupe and have to say i'm astounded at the comfort. I love the black leather interior and all the mod-cons that i'm not used to. My father's driven BMW's ever since I was born, and currently has a 645ci vert - He is happy that I have taken on the brand of car that he's accustomed to. Now all I need is for my friends to stop telling me i'm driving a drug-dealer's car and everything will be cushti! James.
Nutz
I thought 4 was the limit per year before you had to register as a trader or something? also your car looks stirring
Routledge
Hmm, i'm really not sure to be fair. I've not been approached, but perhaps a change of address mid-way has helped me avoid this obligation?
suhail97
Is that with the DVLA? I've never heard of that. What if you were really unlucky and had 5 write offs?
Nutz
Quick google brings up quite a few threads on the subject; http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/car-talk/29...n-you-sell.html No one references any gov documents tho, general consensus is 6 every 12 months, not as I said 4. Routledge
Thanks for the replies. I think it's mainly due to the fact that I'm 22 and look.. well.. 20-22 years old. Doesn't suit me on a weekend when I'm rolling around in jeans and a T-Shirt, but during the week when i'm suited and booted it does. Is there much done in the way of modifications on this community? I don't want to be immediately shunned but I was mulling over the notions of an M-Sport kit and powder-coating the alloys black and maybe going for a black grill. Oh and uprating the rear lights to the newer-spec LED ones.

I'm 21 and after work/weekends I bust around in t-shirt and jeans. Car really doesn't suit me Is there much done in the way of modifications on this community? I also really like LED numberplate lights.
Routledge
Well here's a couple of pictures from the sale advert: I've got a few niggles that I want to sort before I get into the styling side of things. Such as: Only came with one key, and it's tempremental - Assumedly i'll have a go at re-programming it - Failing that I'll take a Stanley to it and try soldering in a replacement battery unit and have another go at the re-programming. If I'm feeling fruity I might splash out for a spare key just in case, but I heard the stealerships charge circa £100 for this luxury. It apparently flickers outside between 50 degrees celsius and minus 40 degrees celsius. I'm fairly sure it's the car that's wrong, rather than living in a bizarrely changual climate in West Sussex. Front bumper has obviously come into contact with the floor a few times and so doesn't sit right on the near-side - Will need to take it off and have a fiddle with the supports to see if they can be bent back. I had to remove a portion of the arch lining yesterday as the NSF wheel was rubbing against it - I think this was caused at the same time as the problem above. Will be crawling around a scrapyard looking for a better-condition replacement to fit. Minor scratch on the near-side rear quarter, not through the primer but still an imperfection that can be seen when the car is dry. Exhaust has a slight blow. It may be worth going around for a half hour drive to see if the key works any better afterwards. To re-program your key: - Sit in the car with all the doors shut and windows up with your key fobs (all your fobs need to be done at the same time) - With one of your keys turn the ignition on then off and remove the key - Press and hold the unlock botton and then press the lock button 3 times. - Release all buttons and the locks will bounce up and down. - Repeat this with the other key/keys (press and hold unlock and press lock 3 times, locks will bounce) Note: Only switch your ignition on once, doing so again while programming will reset the process and you will have to start again.
