Apex Rdx Coilover Installation

Recommended Posts

Any chance of a photo when you do to help a dunce (me) out?

No worries mate.

I'm sure if I managed to figure it out, then most people would be able to fit these themselves....so long as they've got access to all the necessary tools that I mentioned above.

WD40 and the power bar were definately two things that made it a lot, lot easier!

They are a lot stiffer than standard, but you only really notice it on the pot hole ridden little back roads around my street.

Once I'm into the town, I don't notice the ride being any harsher than before.

It handles well around some empty-ish roundabouts on my run to work / gym.

My only problem is that all I've got to compare it to is springs / shocks in my old Golfs. I've never fitted coilovers to my car before or ridden / driven in a e46 that's on coils.

Can anyone else who has bought a set of these scan a copy of the A4 fitting/adjusting instructions supplied?

I've lost mine and think I might have done one of my fronts wrong...........

Thanks

Winding up the lower plate (that the front spring sits on).

Like I said - I lost th instructions, but I'm sure I remember reading something like "wind it up until against bottom of spring, then once more for luck!" (not word for word). I did this on one side and wound it up until the spring didn't mangle about on the other side. The second one bounces loads more over small bumps etc - thought th spring might be under too much impression to start with?!

If one bounces it sounds like a duff shock As long as the spring doesn't get loose when you jack the car up you should be fine to wind the adjuster up as It shouldn't make much difference

Are both adjusters set at the same height

The best thing to do is go on 'willtheyfit' and see how much more inner poke an MV1 or MV2 would be compared to the spec I called up there. I would do it but I'm in the office :)
