analbeard
Ok, so this isn't intended to be a full how-to on how to install your angel eyes, but just an add-on in case you want to have them running as daytime running lights (on all the time the engine is running), rather than as sidelight replacements. Therefore, follow your installation guide until you get to the point where you attach the trigger wire to the sidelights. I have Umnitza rings which have a harness designed to facilitate this, but if your eyes don't come with a harness then all you need to do is extend the trigger wires so as they reach the ECU distribution box in the back-right corner of the engine bay (to the right of the ECU, under a black cover). If you do need to extend them, then the offside wire can be routed up the side of the engine bay and then across the top of the engine via a cable tray just in front of the pollen filter. Firstly, remove the cover of the box by undoing the 4 screws. Be careful not to drop them as recovery would be nigh-on impossible! Then remove the lid. You'll be presented with a large bunch of wires connected to various plugs: full-size image here Next, run the trigger wire into the box, doesn't matter which grommet you use but I ran mine in through the one at the very top of the picture (you can just see it), purely because it was unused and therefore easier to get the wire through. Once the wire is in the box, you need the set of wires which sprout from the plug nearest the front of the box (the grey plug in the photo above). From there, you'll find several wires which are red and white. In theory, any of these wires will do the job as they're all 'accessories' wires, which should all be carrying a current as soon as the key reaches position 2. I chose the one closest to the left of the photo, purely because it was the first one I tested with the multimeter. If you're unsure, go with this one. Install your tap, as below: full-size image here Once the tap is connected, connect your trigger wire to the tap and test your handiwork! The eyes should illuminate once the key reaches position 2 (the position before the engine turns over). Edited May 18, 2011 by analbeard

James B
My ECU box looks different to this and doesn't have the grey plug, I have a few red and white wires going through the box though, will any of them do??
Chimp Choker
I'd like my angels to Come on via remote. I know of tapping into the foot well lights to do this, however could this be facilitated via the ECU Box? Ferg
Anyone know if ccfls can be wired to come on with interior lights when unlocking?
L333JSA
Yes, providing you get the correct wiring loom with it that includes a switched relay.

Ferg
Just thinking, will they not come on every time I open the doors??
DonB
Just thinking, will they not come on every time I open the doors?? Yes, if you wire them for remote on and off, they're connected to the footwell light, so come on when the door opens RickyZ
floss_regularly
Would you also need a one-way diode (not a sparky, so unsure of correct term), so that the footwell lights don't come on with the lights while driving?
L333JSA
Nope as there are 2 triggers off the relay that's used as part of the loom that comes with them.
RickyZ
?? the DRLs and remote fade are 2 completely different connections, not sure that that would be an issue
CharlE46
?? the DRLs and remote fade are 2 completely different connections, not sure that that would be an issue Both connections go into the relay that control the engel eyes, the relay will switch bewteen interior lights fade in to ignition on DRL's and interior lights fade out, not the best diagram but to give you an idea, replace the "parking lights or side marker" to ignition pos 2.. not sure how it deals with ignition on and the door gets opened.. Alpina99
I know this is an oldish thread but a quick question,If following "analbeard's" wiring suggestion, is there an need for a separate relay or is the red / white wire already relayed ?Thanks,
Steve Goral
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but my angel eyes only have two wires coming from them. I'm guessing red is live and black is earth, with the read being the trigger wire. Is the foot well light supplying enough power to power both sets of angel eyes or do I need to supply power from another location as well?
