Xup
Been considering getting an E46 for quite some time and never got round to it, the mods can probably vouch for this fact by checking when I first signed up for this forum. Basically im a long term beemer fan and was due to buy my first e46 back in 2008 but getting laid off at work ment it was never to be, from there and a change in fortune I ended up with a z4 coupe for 2 years, then I got a 630 Sport, then for some reason I decided to get rid of that and buy an Abarth 500. Without getting too much into details iv took a job with a massive commute and being 6'4" the Abarth just isnt working for me so I wanted to take this opertunity to get into something more solid feeling and comfortable and finally after going round the houses get an e46 like I was originally going to all those years ago. I will most likely put a wanted ad up once I manage to sell the Abarth (on ebay for 1 more week if your interested, om me for details as I dont want to go against forum advertising rules) but what I will be looking for will include: 330 Msport/clubsport Coupe or Convertible Petrol Manual Facelift Good history Just need to find a buyer for mine but it seems very quiet atm. Gaz
330i and a massive commute = massive fuel bill! I dunno, you can get 40mpg from the facelifts on the motorway. That's not the worst mpg for a commute.

SamN
Welcome. Any pics of the Abarth? Not interested in the sale of it, just generally interested as I think they are quite cool little cars. Couldn't own one mind! Is that 56mph? Should be able to get 35-40mpg at 70mpg. Obviously in traffic that'll shoot down
Gaz
Is that 56mph? Between 60 and 70. At 60 I'll be getting about 42, at 70 I'll be getting about 38.

Xup
Cheers for all the replys, i was thinking it would be doing somewhere between 35-40mpg on a run which im fine with. Im not really too bothered about fuel consumption as long as it isnt terrible, I would rather have a nicer car and pay a bit extra for the privelige. Im also working as a consultant so can claim mileage back through my own ltd company which offsets the costs a little too. Quite fancy a convertible, is there anything specific roof/motor related I need to look for when looking at one, never had one before and wouldnt mind giving it a whirl. Here's some pictures of my Abarth: Edited November 1, 2011 by Gaz Removed link to ebay, but embedded pictures for you
SamN
That thing looks awesome I would remove the link now though. I know you don't mean to be advertising it and I did ask, but otherwise it'll get removed by one of the mods.

Xup
haha, like I mentioned in the first post I joined when I was first looking at getting one before everything turned to s**t, after that it was sort of put on hold, but better late than never as they say. If its in the back of my mind I will get round to it eventually, just ask the wife about me putting the shelves up in the bathroom. Got my beady eye on a convertible from mill brow vehicle sales, I would rather sell privately but may be swayed down the px route if the deal is right. Any one used this garage before/any one live near and could have a sneaky look and give an honest opinion? I know thats probably a bit of a cheeky ask from someone who is only 2 posts old but its what gives good forums the edge.

Xup
Righto guys, im back again and this time the owner of my very own e46, picked it up 2 weeks ago but been v'busy since. Got a reasonable deal on a 2005 330cd m-sport convertible, sparkling graphite, black hood/leather, black cube trim. Its making the long cummute much more of a comfortable experience, heated seats are the biz in this weather. There are a few little bits which have started to niggle with me that i didnt notice on the testdrive and iv had my mate who works for bmw to have a look for me and it seems the front control arm rear bushes are knocking slightly and it will probaby need the propshat coupling changing in the not too distant future, little bit gutted but suppose a bit of maintenence will be expected with a car of this age and it gives me a chance to play with my tool kit. Also planning on changing the diff and transmission fluids while im down there, does anyone know why the oil recomended on a few forums including this one is ATF oil and not MTF like I would of expected? As for the mpg, getting about 33-35 on my commute which I think is a bit low but never had a convertible before so dont know how much the extra weight effects it? Also the fiat would of totally demolished it in a drag race but its not too bad. Going to work on getting the niggles sorted over winter so its mint by the time I can start enjoying it sans roof when the warmth returns.
