Nikon D3100 Dslr With 18-55 Vr Lens - 3 Weeks Old

Recommended Posts

I agree, keep it and use it more. The feeling of getting a great shot is good feeling. It will take substantially better photo's than a point and click - even in it's own auto mode it will be better.

I've not got an SLR, I have a Bridge which is like an SLR in that it has a lot of the manual modes. I hardly use the auto any more as I can play with the image more.

One of my favourite things to do at the moment is longer shutter images on a tripod. Got one at sunset in Greece this week and it made the sea look milky, kinda like this but by admission, no where near as good lol. (havent got mine off the camera yet)

It's definitely worth picking up Digital Photographer mag and taking note of the settings they used and noting the angles they used etc.

It will take a while to master, but when you do you'll love your camera and you'll start thinking to yourself "where can I take my camera"

And in my case "How can I get rid of the mrs so I can take 30 photo's of one thing to get it dead right!"

Sadly all my good shots are on the camera or facebook and not on my photbucket account so cant show you anything.

I have a DMG-GF3 or something? It's a Micro 4/3 system, total impulse buy while I was walking past the Canary Wharf Currys Digital!

I also have a Canon PowerShot G10 that takes what everyone else thinks are great photos but what I think leave a lot to be desired, because the colours come out funny.

I think the G series are a bit better than the FZ series, could be totally wrong about that. Is yours one of the ones that has a small compact body but the fully changeable lenses?

There's too many options these days.

Fully compact

Compact system

Bridge

SLR

Who the hell knows what's what!

Yeah, fully chageable lenses. Now my problem is all the decent lenses seem to cost £800! Grrr! Bought it with a decent zoom lens for the Paralympic Opening ceremony :)

In fairness I have more zoom range on my GF3 with 2 lenses than I have with my PowerShot 'bridge' camera with its built in zoom.
