Wind Noise At Speed - Coupe

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, has anyone had this problem before??

It's noticeable above 30mph or so and is doing my head in! Obviously the wind noise gets worse as the speed picks up.

Any ideas as to what I should be replacing etc?

Cheers guys

Is it coming from the back of drivers window?

Since I had my door taken apart to fix the broken exterior door handle the wind noise has got much worse and it does appear to be coming from the back of the window. I was going to look at what could need adjusting I know there is a way, just haven't looked it up yet

First way is for adjusting the glass left to right to fill the hole correctly.

You just pop the outside trim off the door panel, the one that is supposed to stop other doors denting yours in car parks, (carefully so you dont break the clips) and then lower the window about 3/4 of the way down.

When the trim is off you will see a couple of holes in the door. Once you have the window low enough, looking in the holes you can see 2 reverse torques. Turn these to adjust the window. A 7mm socket also does the job.

If the clips holding the window are broken though this fix will only last temporarily.

To adjust the glass the other way and move the glass towards or away from the car, is also a simple fix and the most common problem.

On the bottom of the door are 2 grommets, one at each end. Pop these out and again you'll find 2 reverse torques which can be worked using a 7mm socket. Untighten these slightly, like a 1/4 turn at a time till you have movement, and gently push the glass towards the car. Holding the glass in place, tighten the torques back up. Or if you cant reach, get the wife to hold the glass and tighten the torques up yourself.

Make sure though that you adjust the 2 torques equally before adjusting.

Then slowly close the door making sure you haven't adjusted too far and the glass sits snug.

Cheers guys.

Topsod ill give that a shot mate, many thanks! I've got to say though the window does look like its sealing correctly etc but its worth a shot for sure!

If that fails I guess I'll have to replace the weather seal.
