RoryW
Any policemen who says its got to be perfectly spaced etc due to ANPR is talking nonsense. The software is more than capable of reading the plate perfectly well. Spacing, in my case I don't think takes the piss. I can understand adding screw tops etc to change numbers to letters being a big no no Friend of mine has C11 UDR so he positioned a dot so it read CHUD R to get his name. He wondered why he got 2 tickets in 1 month. As said, law is the law but I think a simple spacing should be allowed. Then again I would say that. I don't think my plate would possible trick anyone or any camera. I will try getting a half space in there and see what happens.

ucldon
Very short memory clearly... haaha not at all i'm aware of that but thought this would be quite subtle. I think making '11' look like a 'H' is much worse
RickyZ
If you alter your plates you run the risk of being made to change it back, waste of money IMO

Totally agree on the spacing, I don't think spacing is necessarily a problem, but the law is the law. When I got pulled I was told if I reported my vehicle stolen, they wouldn't be able to recognise it if it drove past cos ANPR wouldn't read it......b******t......I've been in sainsburys petrol stations and seen my plate flash up on their monitors when I'm paying, so if there's can read it, I'm sure the po po's can. My copper mate also confirmed ANPR should be able to read the spaced plate. Those people that use screws, italic or anything other than standard font and have obstructive logos on the plates are the people that should be fined and have their plate confiscated - such as the Luke plate in the link above, awful looking anyway
