mit
The 4 series is actually an entirely new car and only shares the bonnet with the 3 series. Everything is new. I think this new branding is in reaction to Audi. Audi scraped the A4 coupe and Cabrio and gave us the A5 coupe and cabrio. So bmw did the same with the 4 series. This is incorrect. It is not an entirely new car. The whole dashboard is the same for a start, and it's built on the same chassis and floor pan as the saloon and touring. It wouldn't be financially viable for them to build it on a new platform. The A5 is also built on the same platform as the A4 (and Passat etc). Rob-
This dynamic needs to go as far as making a 2 door 7 series with a big petrol engine to rival the merc CL. What on earth would they call it though........
Aly
Wouldn't that just be a new '8' series?
Rob-
Wouldn't that just be a new '8' series? Hopefully it's in the pipeline. Although it would probably end up with a tiny FI 4 pot and not be a patch on the old one.

WilliamL
If you own a fairly expensive Hamann BMW, avoid driving that Hamann BMW to the dealership when you are Hamann BMW shopping. If they see your expensive Hamann BMW, they will not consider your low offers, unless you plan to trade in your expensive Hamann BMW. http://www.westcoastmotorsport.com/hamann.htm
