good power from a 2.0 litre, but you'll struggle to go much higher without spending a lot of money on a bigger turbo, injectors, etc

do you have the graph to accompany those figures, interested to see what the power & torque curves are like

yeah i did think that another turbo would be the one then like you say it gets more intense engine work and more mapping ect

Heres the graph . tbh im not happy with the map and i dont believe its anywhere near the figures stated as i previously had a vw bora pd130 had abit of work done at a company called R-tech and that was 195bhp 275lbs and felt alot quicker than the 320d :(

quite peaky, I suspect the turbo is maxed out and cannot sustain the flow at higher revs

the Bora weighs a lot less than the E46 so its all about the power to weight ratio

Doesn't the Bora weigh near enough the same as an E46 ??........maybe 100kg in it ? A fat friend at best huh :D

I don't trust rolling roads as with some fiddling they can say whatever you want them to say, especially when money is involved.

I had a rolling road done by Chipped UK on my 320d, reckoned it was 137bhp before, and iirc 175bhp after, the car was notably slower after the remap, unknown to me it had already been mapped (properly the first time obviously), his generic German friend didnt have as good a map as my first despite what the rollers said.

10bhp/ton is not something your average person will notice ? IMHO of course.

I would suggest the nature of his map on the bora and maybe even things like gear ratios, torque curve all conspire to make the Bora feel faster.

For example the way a R5 GT Turbo delivers the power makes them feel like s**te off the shovel, in the real world 0-60 the 330 is quicker, but it feels nowhere near quicker behind the wheel.

That’s pretty good for a 320d you won’t get any more out of it unless you buy a 330d

I had the same experience as you!

My 130pd Octavia I had felt a lot quicker than the 320d when I had it mapped and when it was done I was really disappointed with it but I suppose it’s the way it is and I think it’s just down to how the engines react to tuning but I know that a mapped 320 would leave a modified VW PD engined car for dust

Volkswagen Bora 1.9 TDI Sport (130ps), kerb Weight 1316 kg, BMW E46 320d kerb weight 1375 kg...! -or if it's 03-05 E46 320d than 1390 kg!

Having had 2 of them I agree, they felt insane to drive, but were not actually that quick in reality.

If I could inject that same rush of excitement behind the wheel of my 330i that I had when I drove the R5 GT I would be a very happy man indeed, I am thinking another 100bhp and a turbo are needed, both well out of my price range sadly.....

I think a lot of it has to do with the power delivery. When i had my PD130 golf you got all the power in one massive thump at about 1900rpm but by 3000rpm you had ran out of steam where as diesel BMW's (or at least the ones ive been in) tend to have a larger powerband and not feel as quick.

Same, my Bora had more torque but less power than a standard 320D. The Bora felt more ferocious as the 8v kicks in early and hard (partly down to higher pressure injectors?) and peaks very quickly. By 3500 rpm my Bora had flattened right off power and torque wise but the BMW keeps pulling. Cant wait to get mine mapped but not sure where.

What rolling road was it?

I heard that some of them can be a bit unreliable in regards to figures..

I think dyno dynamics is supposed to be one of the better ones..

Thats good power you got there though if it is the figures quoted

Save weight, 20k of stuff if you strip out the boot. Swap your electric seats for manual. Go on a diet, take out sound deadening etc.

But I don't think you'll get more power without spending so much you could just trade in for a 330. Those are good figures you have already :)

That was on AMD essex rolling road and they are notorious for wrong figures so i dont expect it to be those figures at all !

I want to get the remapped again by R-tec in leicester , i had my Bora tuned there and the power felt awesome as it was done by live mapping and AMD just flashed a map onto the car to give god figures but the power isn't very smooth or consistent in all gears ect , more than likely just wacked the boost right up

lol im on a diet as it goes ! but tbh now ive put the install in ect it has made a difference but i cant go without music or my leathers , and its not really the speed i want out of it its just god figures i want and the power to be smoother and hold out longer as gears 1 and 2 are just short burst's of power really aggressive then the rest of the gears slowly start spooling up , 4th tends to hold out and stay strongest up to about 100mph+ but something still doesn't seem right to me
