Rebel
Not wishing to dampen your enthusiasm mate but no colour is worth anything in particular i.e. a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. That said, an oem colour is always best. These cars fetch more standard than they do modded unless the mods appeal to a certain buyer. mit, Jay., sive s and 1 other
Jay_TopazCoupe
Yeah i see where you are coming frome Rebel... But i know i would pay more for a dakar yellow one than what i would for lets say a silver one. Lets say what would be more disirable instead off what is worth more lol
DennisCooper
Hi, If you are any way thinking about re-sale later down the line then the original colour is the best choice to go with. Whenever it comes to sale time, any 'colour change' away from what the car came with from factory will turn away perhaps 90-95% of potential buyers. You can tell them till your blue or purple in the face the respray was done to high standards and all that, but it'll not matter. If you were to do a full colour change, which means right back down to bare metal/shell etc and meticulously did the car back up again, you 'might' get some of those potentially turned away buyers considering your car at that stage, but then you run into the whole 'preference thing' and that ulitmately, will put you back into the initial situation and 90+% of your potential market will not be interested in buying. If you aren't so worried about re-sale and like many other BMW's of the era, they're not worth 'that much' anymore, then change the colour to whatever you like and enjoy ! Cheers, Dennis! Rebel
Oh now, there's a question... you might be better off naming all the colours 'you' like and putting it to a poll / vote. Personally I'm a huge fan of grey and titanium type colours which I think work very well with aggressive designs such as the e46 whilst not cheapening the brand. That said, some blues look amazing as do some reds. sive s
Rebel
Another thought, I'm not a fan of wraps in general and I'm not sure if it is possible to mimic the same with paint but two colours I saw featured a while back (in PBMW I think) on 2 e9x M3s were frozen grey and frozen blue. They are matte colours with what looks like a mild sheen to them. I get the same effect on a frosty morning with my sparkling graphite, looks amazing sive s
Marshall89
I gotta agree with Dennis. Like he says there just not worth that much anymore anyway, if it was a 40k car then I would be worried. Go for your favourite colour and hope someone else agrees when it comes to sell it! mit

DJ Syxx
You will probably devalue it respraying it in a different colour but if your planning to keep the car and car needs it why not.If you havent start a build thread with pics least then you got a history trail if you wanted to sell later.Oh and i vote for Dakar yellow Edited September 25, 2013 by DJ Syxx sive s and Rebel
JimmyJames
As above, if your keeping it and not really fussy about resale then go for what you like mate. Also depends what colour your engine bay is, something too drastic could look odd with a blue bay. Yellow or red for example. .. But if you plan on removing everything and painting the bay then go nuts mate.. The AMG off white would be nice
sive s
I agree with all above. It will put people off. Especially as they will ask has it been in a accident, so is that why it has had a respray. To much hassle mate. But if you are still wanna change it , why don't you do what Rebel has said. Go for a wrap or a plasticdip of the car. A forum member on here has wrapped his one in white. Oh and i vote for Dakar yellow +1 with Dakar yellow. Welcome to the forum too mate. Jay_TopazCoupe
The bay wont be getting done, but apart from that the rest will be... Wrapping it would cost me more tbh, im only going to be paying for the material for the respray Build thread is actually a good idea, thanks DJ Syxx My uncle just finished a black 325ci, its now a white m3 rep, cost a fortune too do and that was him doing all the work himself but its a labour off love i guess and not always about money ... i will get yous guys some pics some one off these days Cheers sive s Edited September 25, 2013 by Jay_TopazCoupe sive s

Dr T
got to agree with the comments above, from a resale point of view a respray in a different colour will make it harder to shift which'll translate to being worth less unless you can wait for the right buyer. But e46 318's are worth next to nothing so why worry. Then it just comes down to what you like. I know this is only opinion from here on so its up to the individual but my 2 pence would be stick to a classy metallic colour, preferably something from the BMW palette, it'll age better and avoid that 'obvious respray' look. I know when you can pick any colour in the world the temptation is to go for something that is 1) striking, 2) a current in colour (yes i'm talking about white this year). But all that happen is you end up with something that looks cheap and out of date in a year. For instance, in your post above, for a few minutes i'd prefer to look at the yellow or white cars, but to live with and look at every day, i'd prefer the original black coupe. Is it just the engine bay not getting done? what about the door and boot shuts, are they getting done? if these aren't being done i'd stick to a colour that goes will with your original blue, like another blue, maybe estoril or santorini (pics below). To be fair you might even be surprised at how nice your original colour is when factory fresh, 10 years plus of UV damage will take its toll on the original paint. If the door and boot shuts are included you could move away from colours that go well with blue although it will look very odd when you open the bonnet. What about phoenix yellow or Marrakesh brown (pics below). Here's a link to a thread with pics of individual colours, could be good for inspiration (http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270318). Anyway just some ideas, from your list i'd only consider the dakar yellow (but not if the door shuts aren't being done), the others will just be interesting for a few minutes then look dated or cheap when fashions move on. Personally i think the e46 shape suits metallic colours better Edited September 26, 2013 by Dr T Jay_TopazCoupe and sive s
mit
I think all of your colour choices will mean nobody wants to buy your car for more than a bag of magic beans. Just get it resprayed in the original colour. You wouldn't have bought your car in the first place if you didn't like that colour!
