EP3 Type R

Recommended Posts

Hi there, thought I'd make a thread on here for my Type R as I am starting my first mods at the end of the month and I will be doing a lot to this car so it might be a good read.

100k, FSH and a years MOT when I got it last month, since then I've had it serviced and that's all so far.

I have ordered some new, bronze Rota Torques which will be with me in a few weeks and I am buying a BuddyClub ProSpec III at the end of the month, so some good mods on the way.

Anyway, pictures:

So as you can see the paintwork is in a s**t condition..

So I gave the bonnet a machine polish and wax, didn't have time to do anything else unfortunately but I am pleased with the result. I used a Das6 Pro with mezerna polishes and pads, although I wouldn't recommend their pads as they give off lots of dust/parts of the pad.

I then waxed it: here the right has been waxed and the left not; a nice comparison and shows the effect the wax has (Collignite 476).

Looking good Ed  330 gone already?

Cheers, yeah went weeks ago! I don't hang around!

I've gotta admit to having a small soft spot for honda, looking forward to some updates too. Nice result on the polishing, must've felt rewarding!

Yeah I always have so there was only one favourite choice of next car for me. Yeah it really did especially now I look back at the pictures. I'll definitely get the whole car done in October when I'm home.

I'm looking forward to doing them! First time with a proper income so I'm going to be doing lots to it!

That does look nice, black and cosmic are the best colours, I am going to be getting it done at TDi North in a few months and I'll have my rota torques and new tyres on just beforehand . Going for 215/40/17 on 7.5j.

Well that is a good point, whilst I'm over there to save making two trips I may as well chuck in an extra 5k or so and get them to chuck on a turbo...

Don't think I would ever consider that tbh, don't think I'd like 300+bhp through the front wheels.

LOL....awww come on ed....where`s your sense of adventure..........the rotrex c-38 on the FN2 is a bit mental (338bhp at the wheel`s)...can only imagine what that feels like in the EP3 let alone one of their turbo kits.....but your right about the cost.....it`s nuts, previous owner on my FN spent £6.6k on upgrades...would I ever spend that...no....could never justify spending even half of that tbh

Pictures: Rota Torque 17" 7.5j ET45 - Bronze.
They look lovely when the light hits them. Really pleased with the subtleness of the bronze.
RotaShop were very good as well, quick replies and helpful service, well impressed with them.

Far too many pictures of wheels and boxes, boring. Get them on the car already :P

Aha give me a chance! Exhaust will be going on first, sometime next week. Then I'll sort some tyres and get them on.

Rotas are on! Really pleased with how they look and I gave them a coat of Gtechniq C5 before so they should be well protected.

I also added type-r-owners stickers which I really like and a rota sticker which I'm still undecided on.

I stupidly got 'Audi Only' tyres; Bridgestone Potenza S001's. They are on however and I don't think it will be a problem, they all fit fine and I can't see what difference it makes; they are 215/40/17 so I really don't think it will be an issue (unless anyone thinks it will be?), I am going to leave them on.

I have also got my BuddyClub ProSpec III on; holy sh*t is it loud.. Lovely sound.

So I have had a FRSU done at Grinspeed, going with the -25mm/-30mm Eibach springs. Turned up at about half eight in the morning and all was sorted by about half 12 I think. Can't fault the service, as I know many have said before, but I would also highly recommend Grinspeed, nice guys and did a perfect job for a good price. They also sorted an issue with the buddyclub vibrating on the anti roll bar and chucked in an exhaust hanger for nothing. Much prefer the look of the car without a yard of arch gap, and it does handle very well now, especially on my month old tyres.

I have removed the sticker on the back window and I think I'll order some new number plates soon. I also want to paint the calipers red within the next week, but I think that will be it for the moment. Future plans are to upgrade the headunit and speakers and get the rear windows tinted, but I've spent far too much on it lately so they'll have to wait.

Here's how she sits now on the new springs, and after some country lane blasts.

Cheers.
