Steviejay
Thats a lovely red mate If I'd had the cash I'd have gone for the diesel I reckon.........then get it chipped. Then you got yourself a pretty damd fast car!
The Diddler
Re-map first job on the list, followed when funds allow by an intercooler, spoke to Roy at CA who do such a beast !!
Steviejay
Those are really impressive with a chip. Have heard horror stories of the e36 m3 getting pasted by E46 330d's that have had remaps!! Would take you from 230 odd bhp to 280+ but its the torque that goes banzai!! 60mph + sprints become very addictive I'm told.
CNL Remapping
I purchased a 2004 330cd M Sport, in Saphire Black, 6 speed manual, Full Black leather(Heated), Xenons, all the nuts, remapped mine last month, all i can say is WOW!!! so much torque now, fuel economy has increased, it was a pleasure to take my ECU out to do this, i am so pleased with this car, definate way forward, this is a mod that seriously puts a smile on your face. I just love driving this car
Phantom Mark
You wont ever see 280+ BHP on a simple remap on any revision of the E46 330d, your gonna need much more tuning work than that sadly, that said, the 330d with a remap is indeed awesome, a genuine 250 is possible for certain. Nice car Skoller

Nice car Skoller I was just about to dissagree with you, Why did I think the 330d was 230 odd bhp?? Superchips say BMW 330 E46 2003 - 2005 Engine type : Turbo-Diesel Engine size : 2993 cm3 Cylinders : 6 Original bhp : 204 Original nm : 410 BHP increase : 46 NM gain : 94 Lb/Ft gain : 69 250bhp 479nm of torque..... thats just mental!!!! That would spank our 330 petrols! The problem is most people still only ever look at bhp figures.......but others know that the torque is where the real grunt comes from.....0-60 wont me faster than the E36 M3 but the diesel would sure scare the s*** out of it from 60 upwards, and anyone who still thinks diesels are w**k need to take these ones out. Friend of mine just placed an order for the A5 3L diesel.....286bhp Transmission 6-spd Power, bhp 240@4000-4400 Torque, lb ft 368@1500-3000 Top speed (Manual) 155 mph 0-62 mph (Manual) 5.9 seconds Fuel consumption (Manual) 39.2 mpg (combined cycle)........imagine that with a chip!! Not looking forward to him roasting me on the way home........I'm never going to hear the bloody end of it. BHP sells cars Torque wins races........ Phantom Mark
Absolutely, torque is definately the king I know they had a really hard time selling 528 petrols when the 530d came out for the simple fact the derv blew away the petrol on every level lol

Shame about the 320d though. New E90 320d is good
The Diddler
I had briefly for about 6 months a 2000 328ci which i thought was nice and fast and sounded good too!!! However when i took the 330cd out for a quick test drive it just felt quicker especially mid range, obviously it does not sound anywhere near as good as a petrol straight six, oh and it stinks abit i love the sheer amount of torque and mid range grunt this thing has its just seems to keep pulling and pulling, with 38 mpg plus and 155mph top speed (where legal of course) i can live with the diesel sound . The beauty of it all to me anyway is that for £350 ish for as remap and £1200 approx for an intercooler i could get a protential increase of 60 ish bhp + compared to roughly £5K upwards for a decent supercharger etc, easier on the pocket. I didnt buy the diesel for its economy anyway, if im going to do 2000 miles this year id be suprised, it came along at the right time, one owner, nice clour Imola Red, fully loaded, xenons, adaptive headlights, Rain sensor and auto lights, TV Sat nav, 6cd auto changer, Electric fold mirrors, Auto, Heated and electric black leather, silver aluminium cube trim, harmon kardon speakers, full bluetooth phone prep through monitor, oh and the full monty service package until 2009. On that note spoke to dealer who had serviced from new who very kindly pointed out as the car was 4 years old a brake fluid change was needed, covered under maintanance, i also mentioned that brake discs could do with changing up front, dealer replyed that a full set of discs and pads all round are also included and he would sort out, so just a case of getting it booked in now!!!! I think the right remap and intercooler mod would totally transform the car for a resonable cost, glad i went diesel now
