Keith
Being covered in crap, working till 'stupid o'clock' most nights and generally wanting to forget the whole thing..............I'm glad I did it, thanks for the write up Keith. LOL, no worries man - I felt the same - frustrated, tired angry, bored of seeing my car sat on stands with no hub... ...But I'm glad you got there in the end - it's worth it
analbeard
hmm, i'm going to be doing this in a couple of days, i've not got an issue with changing the rears but it looks like the fronts are going to be a pain in the arse, can someone summarise the dos and don'ts of getting that damn bolt out? i'm going to make a trip to my local dealership to get two new bolts before i do it though, that's for sure. so far, it looks like a freezing spray coupled with wingy-wangy juice (WD) and a lot of patience are the best bet? Jamesy Boy ACS3d
Went and picked up some new bolts yest', gunna attack this on Monday. Got plusgas and a piece of scaffold at the ready. Put Eibach Sportlines on K22 RSL (Rich) a couple of weeks ago. As already said, the rears are easy just push down on the wishbone and they pop out (for some reason the drivers side needed a bit more pushing). The fronts weren't to bad, just make sure you have a wire brush and some penetrating fluid for the problamtic bolt. Just remember to take your time and work the bolt slowly stopping to rebrush and apply fluid. When we got these bolts out the thread was nakered so good job we had 2 new bolts. Also remember to use some threadlock when putting the new bolts in, only cost a couple of quid. Good luck buddy.

Mike-
Did rears yesterday and fronts today. No shearing or any nonsense, in fact all in it wasn't too difficult at all. First side took about 30 mins after I knew what I was doing. Didn't take the caliper off either.

Neil_S
Managed to do the first part of this today, get the old strut towers out, they are a little rusted so I'm going to treat the surface rust and paint them before putting them back in with the eibach springs. Big thanks to Keith for the writeup which is very helpful, especially the bit about the pinch bolt. I took a great deal of care with mine and got them out without too much trouble. After an hour soak in bilt hamber ferrosol, I started trying to crack the bolt with an 18mm spanner, taking it extemely easy, I was careful to watch the end of the bolt to check for movement as I turned the head. After lots of ferrosol, I started getting movement and so cranked the bolt forward and back and then started easing it off, luckily both came out without too much trouble. e46318ise
Hi guys, I tried this recently but the hub collar would not drop completely from the strut. it went no more than 15mm. It seems that the wishbone cannot bend any furher down. Do i need to turn the steering to allow the hub to drop off the strut? Any Ideas? -John

Thanks for the input. -John
JayPea213
hi guys, I was seriously thinking about lowering mine down a bit also...what kind of springs are best? I have 18'' wheels at the moment, but thinking of putting some 19'' ones on it.....do you think to lower it 40mm I would be ok? or do you think i could squeeze a bit more out of it. Great right up by the way...very clear and concise, the pictures help an awful lot!
