First Attempt With Da

Recommended Posts

Well I had the day off on Thursday so decided to have my first go with my DA (Cleaning my car on my gf's birthday didn't go down so well :) ). Only did the bonnet as I was rushed for time. The sun was also hidden away the whole time so no idea how swirled it was before/after unfortunately. I'll be borrowing my mates LED lamp for when I do the rest of the car though :)

Just thought I'd put up a couple of beading shots. I used Menz polish, followed by a quick run over with SRP and finally applied Finishkare wax as my LSP. The bonnet was clayed before hand with meguiars clay as there was very little contamination and I didn't want a clay that was too aggressive.

A quick question for anyone in the know, can I apply SRP using the DA without worrying about taking any paint off? Or should I normally be applying SRP by hand?

I'll put a proper right up when I've done the rest of the car :)

Snow foamed followed by a good wash:

Looks good, but where are the proper correction shots!! Do you need to use SRP after Menz, they are all polishes, better off using a cleaner polish such as Lime Prime if you want to clean it up I think. Don't take my word for that though

Nice beading though, this is what I got after attacking my car with the DA, then sealed with EXP and waxed with Hard Candy,

Couldn't get any full correction shots because there was no sun :) I did try but you just couldn't see anything :) Will be borrowing my mates lights for the full correction though, and then I can bore you all with 100's of 50/50 shots :)

I wasn't sure whether or not to use SRP afterwards, but I thought extra layers of protection aren't going to hurt :) I've only ever heard good things about Lime Prime, might have to grab a bottle.

If you want an extra layer of protection try using a sealant after the polish, autoglym do ultra deep shine I think its called, or get some other like poorboys EX-p

I am, it makes polishing soooo much easier. I'm going to tackle my parents Ford KA they've just bought (They needed a cheap car to ferry the dogs round in) as that is absolutely covered in swirls! Hopefully then I'll be able to see noticeable results :) Mine is in pretty good condition anyway so not noticed amazing results. Other than the beading of course :)
