RoryW
Yeah I have a cable sat here ready so I can do photos start to finish. That cable will do but you will find it will probably only charge 3G iPhone or charge older iPods. The newer generation iPhones need 5v to charge unlike the older 3G where it would allow 12v charging. That'll be fine though for music etc, I seem to have got lucky and got a cable which allows charging to later iPhones by mistake of the seller so need to update the thread anyway. The cable you've linked too has the following below about charging. It'll allow music though! Compatibility: iPod Video U2 Special Edition iPod Touch 1st / 2nd /3rd iPod Nano 3rd / 4rh / 5th Gen iPod Classic 120GB / 160GB / 80GB / 160GB(lunched Late 2009) iPod 4th Gen / U2 Special Edition iPhone 1st / 3G Apple iPad Compatibility: Pod Video U2 Special Edition / 30GB / 60GB / 80GB iPod Touch 3rd Gen 32GB / 64GB iPod Touch 2nd Gen 16GB / 32GB / 8GB iPod Touch 16GB / 8GB / 32GB iPod Nano 4th Gen. 16GB / 8GB iPod Nano 3rd Gen 4GB / 8GB iPod Classic 120GB / 160GB / 80GB / 160GB(lunched Late 2009) iPhone 3G 16GB / 8GB iPhone 1st Generation 16GB / 4GB / 8GB Edited May 1, 2012 by RoryW

I have a cable i think will work for you, once I know the pins you can have the cable cause it'll only end up in the bin if you don't have it. Also to add the answer to your av question, you'd leave or just cut off the yellow visual cable. The actual RCA plug is cut off these anyway. RoryW
@mrmsport The connectors can be pinched from any old pc case, sure Maplin must sell something similar but haven't had a chance to flick through their catalogue yet. @Andy Can you get a picture of the back of your unit. If you have the 2nd set of pins you can use aux input so yes I have an old cable
RoryW
Also to add, I've ordered a couple RCA cables and plan on doing a proper guide, this was purely written up after Id made sure it worked my end 1st. Probably be here early this week so I'll crack on with it when it arrives.

Salim
Good man for figuring this out! What are motherboard pins though? Any pics of what they look like so I can have a look in Maplin. Threw all the old pc's away!

Bennai
Looking forward to the pics, been trying to figure out a way to do this for ages! I have one question though, when installing my satnav retrofit the loom has an adapter in it for aux in which ended up under the trim near the gear stick, Would I be able to use this or will I have to take the cd changer connection out of the back of the screen itself? As it would be much easier to get to the aux in connector than take the screen out. Thanks
RoryW
I will make them to order if someone doesn't want to buy soldering iron etc just to make one cable. If that's not allowed then fair enough, long as no one has a problem with it? Regarding connections, for the life of me I cannot remember their correct name but here's a quick pic This is a double connection I just tore from an old workstation. Colossuss
Isn't that just normally called a 2 pin connector? Female? Normally they go into the motherboard for power switches, reset switches, hard drive read LED's etc
RoryW
No, they have a name and also size. I can't remember for the life of me. It's something like female board mount crimp or something stupid like that. I'll crack through the RS catalogue when I'm free later and find some. Not just pc's that use them, we used to use them in the thousands when making the development gps units at raymarine.
