Cannockwolf
not totally sure about your controls but there are 2 options for the relocation panel 16mm and 18mm as i had to choose to http://shop.ebay.co.uk/quarrymot/m.html?_nkw=relocation&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313

RickyZ
Not sure how to relocate manual ones but if you buy the digital panel (get from a scrappy) they are plug and play with the manual one, assuming you have aircon then the swap should be easy
UKShark
I thought about that , but this thread : http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=254841&highlight=swap+manual+heater+control Says the auto heater control needs extra parts to make it work properly. Yes i do have AC.
Jamesy Boy ACS3d
As others have said, as long as you have AC it's just a case of unplugging the wiring loom from the manual dial switches to the digital auto heater switch unit.

Rob-
For future reference for anyone searching the site there is an earlier and later model of the manual 'dial' type control unit. The older ones work mechanically using cables and the newer ones work via a wiring loom. So you cannot simply replace the control unit on all cars. I am still looking into the date which they changed to electronic actuation. It is quite possible that it was when the facelift car came out but this is to be confirmed. The OPs car is a 2005 so it's safe to say this will be the electrical connector type.

pauly330
Why were BMW still supplying tape head units in 2005? Surely no one still had tapes then? Dynavin and relocating the heater controls is going to bring your dash board bang up to date IMO.
UKShark
Relocated Twist knobs, and fitted Dynavin till the new controls come. So just waiting for new aircon control panel. Thank you ALL so much for the help. For anyone reading this i had to modify the relocation panel ALOT to fit the twist control panel.

Jamesy Boy ACS3d
Looks good buddy Will look even better once you get the digital climate control. How did you get on with fitting the Dynavin? Mine was a pig, especially getting all the wires in!!

UKShark
I didnt do anything special with the ipod and usb leads, just routed them into the glove box. Totally agree about all the wires, took about 20 attempts and even then it was a VERY tight fit. Going to try and tidy it up a bit behind the unit when I fit the Aircon control. Love the unit, only thing that annoys me at the moment, is it seems to mute the front speakers every time I press a button for a few seconds. Next mission is to get wolfncu working. RickyZ
Looks good dude : am concerened if you have modded the unit that the digital panel wont fit very well as it shouldnt need modding at all lol congrats
nereik23
Bit of an old post I know... I was just wondering what mods were involved into getting that climate panel fitted into the sunglasses area.. Im looking at putting a Dynavin unit in my 316ti and not sure how the relocation of the climate control knobs would go. But looks like its been done. But to how much trouble.. lol Edited February 15, 2012 by nereik23
