MRyan
Hey all, Had the car a short while and loving it - went to check fluids this weekend just gone though and my dipsticks stuck inside it's tube! Any ideas on how to prize it out without snapping anything, or how its managed to get stuck in the first place? Sorry if its been covered somewhere, I did a search on the site and couldnt find anything. Thanks
john.med
I had to really put some effort into removing the dipstick once, felt a right prat. Like Mr Muscle off the TV. Have you really put your back into it?
SkinnyJ
Recently got my car and I had the same thing. I'm guessing the last owner didn't check the oil often lol. I just really had to pull hard and it gave. It's okay now as I check quite often.
MRyan
Not yet, I dont wanna snap anything and have it fall into the sump! Reckon that there is any chance of that actually happening? Or should I just yank it out?
autosri
I think it's supposed to be tight as its a gas tight seal just give it a yank
JasonR
Mine normally gets stuck i twist while pulling that normally works
MRyan
Sounds normal - ill just be a bit more brutal with it. This is what happens when you own a French car for about 6 years, you worry about breaking everything haha
stevielad
They are normal to be tight but not real tight. If I were you as MRyan says twist and pull but maybe spray a tad of WD around the dipstick rim and let it soak for 5 then twist and pull.
