Psy Posted September 24, 2010 Report Share Posted September 24, 2010 I've tried for ages to find replacement OEM LED indicators, but there are no part numbers on RealOEM.com and BMW parts don't seem to understand what I'm talking about. Can anyone please help - I want to get OEM LED indicators which I'll subsequently cover in dark laminex as others on here have. Used this seller: eBay guy There are cheaper ones out there, but this guy had stock and they had good reviews. My car is supposed to have them as stock OEM - the previous owner has cut the wires, spliced and replaced them with black ones with a 'normal' bulb. One of the originals was still in the glovebox with the connectors and cut wires in the back of it. RealOEM says mine is supposed to have LED ones too, so we'll see. Psy Posted October 28, 2010 Author Report Share Posted October 28, 2010 Mini-DIY Silvertech bulbs - Facelift E46 front indicators We all hate the fried-egg look like the below. Get rid. 1) Get bulbs. For the facelift car you need T20 bulbs (the wedge type). I found some on eBay. 2) Remove bulb-carrier From passenger side: Easy(ish). The bulb sits in a long carrier that diagonally slots into the back of the light unit. On my car it was brown, but may vary on others (I'm told). Unclip the plug and you'll see the brown oval 'stalk' (red circle here). Turn it anti-clockwise (when standing in front of car). After 90 degrees, it will pop lose and you can feed it out. From driver's side: Harder. As above, bulb sits in a long stalk. You will need to undo the top on the washer bottle and shove it to the side (double red circle is where the bottle fixing screw comes through - there is a spanner in your tool kit that is the right size). Unclip the plug and you'll see the brown oval 'stalk' (red circle here). Turn it anti-clockwise (when standing in front of car). After 90 degrees, it will pop lose and you can feed it out. 3) You'll be left with two brown stalks. Simply pull the bulbs out and push the new ones in.
