So to clarify cars past Y reg are ok?

Is it still worth booking a later 3 series into bmw for an inspection

And from what reg will they fix these 51 onwards?

Defo worth checking 04 & 05 cars still have the problem

Ahhhhhhh! Today we removed my rear diff carrier to install powerflex bushes and rear diff bush then discovered a tear on the nearside rear diff carrier mount. had to stay behind a couple of hours at work to weld and plate it all up.

330CI

Build date - July 2000

What sort of luck are people having with BMW these days? I have a creak from my rear end () and it's going to my brothers garage for inspection tomorrow, my build date was August '00. The car is An '01 320d Saloon.

If not I'll get it welded myself, would the BMW repair though tbh :D

I was under the impression this didn't affect the Saloon?

My old 328 loon was ripped out real bad, so yer, loons and coupes, dunno about tourers tho ??

mine did as well, followed your how to but with a twist, i added a extra channel welded to the back of the floor under the subframe mount and a extra brace across the top before the boot floor was welded up.

man, really easy to burn holes in the boot floor! paper thin that.

thanks to you i saved my car from the scrap yard

Hi guys I'm new to this! I have a 1999 328ci and have a severe case of cracking ad clunking. Does anyone know a garage that has done these before for a reasonable price. BMW won't take it on as it's over 10 years old :( I'm in north west London. Cheers guys

Hi been reading this thread and it scared the sh*t outa me! I'm getting a loud THUD noise coming from rear wen I place in 1st and shift to 2nd! Would this be my subframe? Iv just had front control arm rear bushes replaced as they were shot to sh*t! So maybe my rear bushes making the THUD noise?

Mine is 06 reg 325 m sport with 100k on clock if this helps.

Cheers PS a helpful thread this!!

Highly unlikely to be subframe mount damage on an 06 car. Sounds more like the prop shaft guibo, or possible diff mount bushings, there's one either side of the diff and a big one at the back.

BMW sell the prop shaft guibo for about £40 and fitting it isn't very difficult at all if the car is on a ramp. Can't help you with the diff bushes though since I don't know that much about them.

As it's most likely to be the guibo I'd get that looked at first. As wash said it's best done on a ramp.

E2A: Its also known as a 'propshaft coupling', 'flexi disc' or 'donut'. Just so you dont have to walk into a garage and say the word guibo lol
