Rob- Posted January 19, 2010 Report Share Posted January 19, 2010 As i'v mentioned in another thread my car needs a new clutch and more than likely a new flywheel. As i understand it is fitted with a dual mass flywheel. Has anyone had a solid flywheel fitted to thier car? Will this have a different effect on a diesel car? Does this modification make any difference to how smoothly the clutch engages and dis-engages? Please share your experience of a dual mass to single mass flywheel conversion. Sorry for the amount of questions but need to be 100% on this before I go and spend the best part of a grand getting the job done. Appologies if this has been asked before but i though it easier to ask again rather than trawl through pages and pages of search results. Apparently its not advised especially with the extra chatter of a diesel, wont be as nice a drive. Just bit the bullet myself and ordered a dual mass. thisworks Posted January 19, 2010 Report Share Posted January 19, 2010 I sourced my own parts. £444 for the flywheel and £200 for the clutch kit but thats through a friend of a friend and it aint goin through the books at that price. Eurocarparts are cheap for clutches though could have got one for £234 with £70 surcharge till returning the old cluthch so might want to try there. £100 for labour so thats £744 all in and thats for a 330 mate. Labour should be around £100 from a good independant. I tried Newhall Cars over your way out of curiosity as I've heared they do a good job, £320 they quoted for labour! And said a flywheel would cost £750 + vat!! Daft prices them! From what i can see a new flywheel from ECP is £300-ish, clutch kit £130-ish and labour at the specialist thisworks suggested £100, so in total £530. Which isnt too bad.
