Headlighting Guide.

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

thanks for this.

I want to change the colour of the bulns in the fog lights as currently I have B-Xeon (sorry if this is not spelt right) headlights and LED side lights but the fog lights are still yellow. I was looking at these and wondered if they are any good, will they cause an error on the dash and are they just a straight fit?

let me know your thoughts on these 2.

I have a facelift 330 with oem projector headlights that self adjust with halogen bulbs, is it a straight forward plug and play job to convert to HID? any advice would be a great help,

thanks.

They won't be self adjusting. Don't be fooled because they move when you first turn the key, that's just testing the adjusters. B)

As Mikey says they wont self adjust, this is a headlight motor test only dude.

Will be illegal to have HIDs but because yours is a facelift it is a lot easier for you to hide it so you should be fine :)

just a bit of an update here.

i never needed any of the bulb holder mod bits.

to remove the bulb queeze the metal spring on the bulb holder to release the bulb, put in the hid bulb then clip the spring back in.

What kit did you buy? What about the ballast was that not needed- ie was it just a bulb you fitted nothing more?

i needed the canbus type, when it arrived the lamps still flickered
So have you got a kit that works issue free?? Link? The kit I've listed above has canbus but it does say that it may need a chip or something to stop flickering??

Wish there was a sticky saying buy this this and this and fit it like this. If you only fit this you will get this issue but buy this too and all is sorted etc etc etc.... It an idiots guide to all that you need to buy....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

the kit i got 1st didnt work propperly, the other kit i only ordered it this morning, lol

so i dunno if it will work without errors

Ahh I see lol. It seems almost inevitable that they will flicker without being coded or pulling a fuse... Shame the oem kit isny available anymore as that would have been pretty simple...

it could of been a dodgy hid kit im thinking

so il try my new kit when it arrives.

2 things that help when you have the flicker problems are:

1,fit error cancelling anti-flicker capacitors

2,fit a relay wired hid loom

ive ordered both the above to make sure i get the system running as it should

From what I've read it seems the flicker problem is pretty much inevitable when fitting hid lights... you then need to buy more stuff to fix it after - like the bits you've listed.

Hi guys I got the (temporary) HID Kit installed until I could get round to buying projector headlights - now is the time.

So where do I get a pair? And which do I get?

Cheers
