Dynavin Alternative

Recommended Posts

Note that there are 2 units according to the website:

98-01 e46 : Here @ £398.99

01-05 e46 : Here @ £429.99

I think the difference is probably just cables.

Its also worth pointing out that this guy is a mobile business only but will fit anywhere in the UK apparently, he charges £49.99 per hour to fit but did tell me that in his demo fitting it took under an hour.

I understand from a phone call yesterday that he has 15 units due in any day now (at call yesterday 7 were already reserved) and another 25 due in around 30 days.

I know that people on this site have them reserved, if they are delivered/fitted ok (reports please !!) then i would assume that those 25 will quite quickly get snapped up !

Oh and when someone does get one can you please let me know if the DVB-T tuner picks up DAB radio, i have asked this question and was not confident of the answer, i do know that I will need an additional antenna which he is selling for another £40.

Very excited about this and hoping it will be a decent unit especially after the Dynavin/TTints debarcle.

At least Car-Vision seem to know what they're talking about. When people called up TTints, they seemed utterly clueless.

It looks great to me, i'd like a report from someone who actually has it fitted if possible, also it says the sat nav is on sd card does this mean it'll take tomtom? anyone know?

As with the Dynavin this is a WinCE device so it will be able to run TomTom, you'll need a specific version of TomTom but it should be doable, check out the Dynavin forums for some background

Well I ordered mine this morning, just incase the price starts going up as its very good at the moment IMO, I'll give a write up when it arrives, they're out of stock at the moment but only becausee of the ash cloud, they're expecting them in any time now :(. They have a batch of 12 coming in, and I believe I got number 8, so because of that I didn't wait for the group buy good luck with it though!

Cheers Mike. Thought it was that one.

You lads are taking a massive leap of faith getting this unit so early on. Luckily with the UK law on your side you should be able to get your money back if it's as bad as the first generation Dynavin!

To be honest im not sure who the manufacturers are as i have spoken to a number chinese retailers who all claim to be the manufacturers for the unit.

Heres one for you:

Can this be used as a direct replacement to OEM nav? So, for instance if an OEM nav failed, instead of forking out for a new computer woulc this be used in its place?

Jumping in like this will just end up exactly the same as the Dynavin thread people who got one first... Does nobody learn from mistakes anymore?

I'm gona give it atleast 6 months then re-asess all the options out there after people have spent some time returning faulty units and bug finding for me.

I agree but I'd rather have one for £400 now and have to send it back in 6 months for a software update than get hit with a £800 price tag in 6 months

Totally agree with Jorge. Alot of people going in blind here that are leaving themselves very open to getting burnt.

And Dan if the price of this unit goes up like the dynavin then again it becomes the same price as other options, either oem or large car audio manufacturers and people will simply not buy it, I cant see it going up like the dynavin anyway tbh. Think they just got greedy once they saw demand. Other companies dont tend to work like that.
