paulfoley30
Ahh i see! Yeah makes sense, although when ever ive tried to get the vents out they never do it wasn't easy, though I was still in "everything comes out if you pull hard enough" mode from earlier. I think I used a knife to lever it out slightly so I could get a good hold on it first though. Luckily theres a wire attached to the back so you can drill yourself in the forehead like nearly did with the sunglasses holder lol I want one. Updated review every day please. Lol. I'll do my best looks sweet! I like the interface. If I didn't have OEM nav I would get this, never bother with OEM retrofit. How do you find the anti-glare properties of the screen? It looks quite reflective? Its not bad, it looks worse on the photos. You can see the light on the screen, but its bright enough underneath to shine through. paulfoley30
Updated review every day please. Lol. Here we go again I used the nav to take me to work this morning, it took me the way I always go (though going any other way wouldn't make a lot of sense). It mutes the radio to the front speakers only, so you can still hear the radio in the background of the instructions, the only problem that I found with the is sometimes it stays muted for a lot longer than necessary, I can only think that this is to allow time for the longer instructions. It didn't mention 2 of the 3 mini roundabouts on the way there (i was going straight on) and on the third it gave me instructions like I was turning into a T junction, doesn't really bother me, but it might others. You can choose from 4 british voices (2 men and 2 women) or 3 yanks (if you trust them to tell you where to go (1 man and 2 women)).

paulfoley30
Have you managed to get a better digital signal at work and able to confirm digital radio ? I tried again and wasn't getting anywhere, I need to have a look at it again I think. I'm not sure they have sent me the booster ariel I ordered so I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. How do you remove the air ducts/vents, I had the whole lot out the other day and still couldnt see how these came out ? :S Also would u recommend getting one ? I took the radio out, then undo the two screws at the bottom. I then levered them out slightly with the knife I used to get the trim off, I could then get my fingers behind it and pull. In my case I had to really put some effort behind it, they're pretty strong. I'll wait until I get everything working properly before I give it my full backing, but it olooks good so far. I think the fact that I'm trying to get everything to work with an iPhone may be causing some issues, but IMO it shouldn't be.
stringy93
Good write up mate, im really wanting one of these now. Got a couple of questions for you Whats the illumination colour match like compared to the rest of the amber dash? Also whats the button press like? I know on the Dynavin had a nasty cheap sound click to the buttons Cheers
stringy93
How do you remove the air ducts/vents Yeah they need a good tug dude, its feels like they are going to break but ive had them out a few times now and had no problems with breakages
mobilejo
Peel the vents upwards as opposed to pulling them forward, they come out easy if you sort of 'roll' them upwards

I know on the Dynavin had a nasty cheap sound click to the buttons Cheers When I read that question, I suddenly realised that I didn't know the answer, so I've just got back from checking and they don't actually light up at all, there were wires that I didn't attach, obviously I need to take it back out and find where to attach this one Button presses are just like OEM, except for the two knobs, when you press them in the do click quite plastic-ily, but that just turns it off, so I haven't actually used it yet. iain77
Hi, Is the DVD unit you got Paul the one from ***DELETED***. I've got a 17 pin head unit and would be interested to know your views of car-vision.co.uk as a dealer...? What was the customer service from them like? Simmy
Can you post a pic of what the screen looks like when just playing music? Can you turn just the screen off whilst it still plays music? Looking good so far and thanks for the write up and pics You pleased with the purchase over all?
paulfoley30
Cheers mate, strange that they dont illuminate Keep us informed on your findings I thought that it'd just use whatever power supply is in the 17 pins for the illumination so I didn't bother looking too hard at the other wires, I think there was one marked Illum or something. I think there was another coming from the can bus so I think the reason its not illuminating is that it need to be told that the lights are on somehow, I'll have to look into it at the weekend. Hi, Is the DVD unit you got Paul the one from ***DELETED***. I've got a 17 pin head unit and would be interested to know your views of car-vision.co.uk as a dealer...? What was the customer service from them like? Yes, I got mine from ***DELETED***. As to the customer service the unit did arrive late, but others emailed them to find out what the hold up was and they did have excuses, for me personally we'll see at the weekend when I phone up to find out why I can't get the iPod connection or bluetooth to work properly with my iPhone. Can you post a pic of what the screen looks like when just playing music? Can you turn just the screen off whilst it still plays music? Looking good so far and thanks for the write up and pics You pleased with the purchase over all? Yeah I'll get a picture of that tonight along with a new picture of the nav. As far as I am aware you can't turn the screen off, but the brightness is fully adjustable, so there is probably a way of achieving something similar. Overall I'm pleased for the moment, if the issues with iPod connection and bluetooth don't get sorted I might change my mind though. If those are sorted I'll be very happy, it'll do everything I want it to and at a fraction of the cost of an Alpine, Pinoneer or similar make and much better value than the dynavin that I so nearly went for
