The new unit looks great but I can't seem to find anyone willing to take my money A chap on e46fanatics is selling them for $650 but in the states only. Price is up to £750 I beleive....I think the price has been jacked up now that a lot of initial faults have been ironed out and demand is starting to strengthen... Apparantly there's a german supplier - yet to find their website though. For everyones information, Jeff Bechtel [jtdist@sbcglobal.net] is willing to ship to the UK from the US for $649 + $80 shipping which isn't too bad. The reason the price has been jacked up is that unit is no longer an unknown entity, they are now on the fourth version and a lot of bugs have been ironed out and the reviews are actually pretty good for the unit...I would def pick this over the oem unit, and probably over some of the other well known aftermarket makes, simply because it is oem look and integrates pretty well with the car system (steering wheel controls, lighting system etc) and to be fair, is pretty packed with features. The alternative mentioed is actually sold by Car vision (I think thats the name) - it retails for about £500-550 depending on the version you get (2 types, same model but different connector). This one is also pretty good, but seems to be of slightly lower quality? There is a thread on the alternative in the ICE section by a member who has it installed, also think there's a thread about the Dynavin too. Typical mate, the UK is always way more expensive than the US, retailers know we will put up with it while the yanks generally demand better value, I guess simply because prices are generally lower and so companies have to price in line with the competition. Saying that, having a competitor selling at 300 quid less must put some downward pressure on the dynavin price..especially since it is a proper viable alternative....will keep an eye on both of these.... About $800 in the states and £800 in the UK from CA automotive who are known for their reasonable urices... This is what happens when one company gets the sole rights to distribute in the UK, they fookin rob you blind. What's worse is people pay the prices they charge so nothing ever changes. For what its worth ive had mine since april i got from ttints and im very happy with the unit i paid £600 including fitting but as i said that was in april but i think its worth £750 & i would recomend the unit Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

With the conversion rate it still worked out cheaper than buying from a UK dealer and I didn't get wacked the on the tax too badly. I fitted it and had some minor problems but they were mainly all my lack of understanding, after a week of having it I can honestly say it's really good, infact it's brilliant. As for the TV...............absolutely correct, mine is not digital but if I want to buy a digital tuner I can, although I'm not really that arsed to tell the truth. Each to their own I know but for what it's worth, I'm glad I have got one. If anyone wants this fitting and can get to the Midlands I'll do it for free...........really easy! How do Ttints justify that one. Even ignoring the American one with lack of DVB-T and some traffic management thing, how can they justify being able to get it from Germany for nearly £200 less! The german version wouldn't be subject to any additional charges as it within the EU, correct? If thats the case, ordering from Germany may be the better option, as you know the price is £575 all in and you also get the digital tuner... The only thing that is p[utting me off slightly is that I don't think you can actually load of up the full TomTom software, with Live services...it's the Live services and IQ routes that I need...I don't know if anyone else uses it, but its amazing and I don't think I could use any sat nav without it now... serious let down for me, as I would still have to use my tomtom, which kind of defeats the purpose... If maps could update me on traffic conditions so that I always knew the quickest route to take, then I would be happy to stick with the A-Z! It's what I used for years before the HD Traffic service was released by TomTom... Seriously though, HD traffic has been an absolute god send for me, I do a lot of driving in central london, and it's saved an incredible amount of time and hassle...I really couldn't live with out it now. I have been told that Dynavin have changed the design slightly for the V4. Not gospel but if you put 'Dynavin V4' into google then compare to the one being sold from Germany theres definatley a difference. Just thought it was worth mentioning.
