Anyone been to Wales? Trying to plan a trip.

Recommended Posts

Howdy people, basically its my GFs birthday in august, august 6th to be exact. I want to take her for a long weekend away so friday -monday and shes always wanted to go to Wales :). So i have never been and don't exactly know where to start, i know the Breacon Beacons national park is there so is it maybe worth a visit or stay near there? I just want it to be a nice relaxing little break for her and want to get it right i.e Romantic, good food, great views scenery etc....

So any experience advice would be greatly appreciated thanks guys :)

Just come back from Porthmadog on the Llyn Peninsula. It's awesome, the drives through the mountains are brilliant. Snowdonia national park isn't too far away so you could go on the train to the top of mt. Snowdon.

Anglesey isn't too far away either, a boat trip to puffin island would be fun (google starida sea services).

Caernarfon castle is also worth a visit and isn't to far either.

Llandudno is good, a walk down the pier and a ride on the great orm cable car is a good day out.

Loads to do in Wales, I go whenever I can. I just can't get enough sheep.

My wife is Welsh and she is from Cardigan Bay, As mentioned above the Pembrokeshire Coast is very nice, at this time of year you will need to wrap up warm, Where do you live and how far are you willing to travel as its a lot of A roads to get to small villages.

+1 for North Wales.. I'm in to my mountaineering, so frequent this area regularly :) The roads are good too.. The train on Snowdon does go all the way to the top (bar 20 feet  ) AND there is a reasonably priced cafe on there too..

Just watch out for the locals.. They're fluent in druid...

Common on Bunny Boy. If you need advice on Wales, come to a Welshy!

South Wales all the way! The Gower coast is amazing. You honestly won't find a more beautiful place in the UK imo. Oxwich bay, Rhosilli bay, the moores.

My family live on the Gower so I go there a fair bit (although no where near as much as I probably should). You can never get bored of the place. Rhosilli bay is HUGE as well. It's next to the beach Top Gear use for all their beach shots. Even when the coast is in there's hundreds of meters of sand. It's one of my favourite beaches.
