Blair
Does anybody know the weight difference between sport Alcantara coupe elec & non elec seats?? Mate of mine has just removed his E46 leather elec seats fitted some after market ones & shed 65kgs!!!!!
chris
Yeah the electric ones have four motors, plus all the cogs and crap. Theigh weigh a lot! Manual ones are a lot lighter, but not sure how much excactly. Im sire the leather elec seats weigh in the region of 20-30kg per seat, at least! mit
It's probably about 20kg, might be more. The electric motors weigh a hell of a lot.
KSG
full elec seats will be around 20kg heavier than manual seats but aftermarket seats will again be a lot lighter than manual/elec
Blair
Any one want to swap my leccy ones for manual?
chris
Get the alcantara and cloth ones, as they were manual as well. Lovely seats! Or if you have a spare 2k, carbon CSL ones
Blair
Csl ones are no good as you can't practically get in the back.
chris
Why don't you get some race seats? Sparco or recaro etc? Weigh nothing, and recline
Blair
I wouldn't want buckets or even CSL's but if I could get the same seats as I have now without the electrics & save 20kgs a seat I'd do that!
Wash
Why don't you just sit on a bathroom stool instead?

Ah do it then, and I bet someone will swap easily. Stick it in the for sale bit mate. Then no need for a stool, although a great idea personally I would do the stool half a kg! Wash
I think you might struggle to find someone who'll swap their manual seats for electric ones, the electric ones are hard to retrofit to a car that came with manual adjustment seats from the factory. Just use the stool instead!

Loads of people have done it. http://forum.e46fana...ad.php?t=348165 Post #4 is what I'm assuming you'd have to do. It looks a little difficult, but then again I can't do anything involving wiring so it might just be me who thinks its a little difficult. mit
All he's done in post 4 is run some wires from the fuse box to the seat locations.

Chimp Choker
offer to retro fit as well blair, for cost of fuel actually scrap that, they could buy a new car if they have to pay for your fuel as well, and probably a set of rear tyres as well
