old grey steve Posted August 13, 2012 Report Share Posted August 13, 2012 I work as the service manager for A1 BN in Stevenage http://www.a1bnspecialist.co.uk/ and we use Copper Pipes at work for replacing especially on the older cars the rear pipes, never had an issue its plyable and will never rust and will hopefully for MOT time never casue our customers an issue. (Yes I know Jensen had it around 1970 on the interceptors and royal enfiled tested on a bike in the late 50's ot rearly 60's) I've used it on my e30's which don't have ABS. I've read that abs sytems produce much higher pressures than old school servo assisted brakes so that's why I had my doubts. Also copper is banned in USA, Canada and certain territory's of Australia. Nope, you'll get an unformed length of plastic coated steel pipe. In this instance even though I got the correct part (no date based alternative) the pipe provided was almost a meter too short. What difference does it make if you use steel or copper anyway? It's not like copper doesn't corrode. It does but not to the same degree as steel. Ever seen a civic building with a green roof, that's copper sheet and may be decades old. I'd have thought aluminium would work well, but it would have to be thicker gauge than steel.
