Aidoe46
as above really, just looking for a diy guide for fitting front brake hoses on my 320d Please
F07GT Steve
Its straight forward Undo the top nut at the top of the hose untill its undone and pull it away, then undo the one on the caliper and then unbolt the holding brackit that sits behind the disc;s and pull them away, put back in revers order, then bleed the breaks remembering to start at the furthist away from the break resuvour, so rear left then rear right, front left then front right
DJ Syxx
Make sure you have a container or bucket etc. to catch the fluid when you release the hose, you don't want it spraying anywhere specially around paint!
autosri
You will want to get some proper brake pipe spanners too as if you use normal spanners and damage them it will get expensive Halfords sell them Easy job really bleeding it will take the longest you don't need to do them in any order as they are virtually indipendant

Aidoe46
ok,i had a look at the brake hoses on the car this eve they don't look coroded or anything so i was thinking of using a vice grips to grip the nuts as i don't have the round spanners to do the job, also how do i bleed the brakes?do i need to put in more fluid if its going to be flowing out?is there any way to stop the brake fluid from flowing out? DJ Syxx
Bought my flared spanners from halfords. They do a 9-11mm and 13-14mm flared spanner which is what you need. Definitely buy them i very nearly f**ked one of my threads using a normal spanner! Edited September 9, 2012 by DJ Syxx
autosri
i have the same ones as dj syxx and that did mine and i have just fitted some to a mini/bmw cooper s and they worked aswell you will also need a 10mm ring spanner for the bleed nipples one thing i will surgest is before you touch the lines at all go round all the bleed nipples and crack them an 1/8th of a turn and do them up again as my mate did this on a golf he removed the lines fitted the stainless ones then couldnt undo the bleed nipples and sheered two out of the 4 and then i got the phone call of wtf do i do we had to drill them out which is a bitch
Marcus
heres a little tip for you. apart from buying the proper spanners. prise the pads back into the caliper <<<<<you must do this first, then push the brake pedal to the floor and wedge it there with some wood or something. then undo the hose. the one on the inner wing first ,then remove from the strut bracket, then wind it out of the caliper ,no extra fluid will escape whilst the pedal is down.then fit new one into the caliper back into the strut bracket then connect up on the inner wing. then get a length of hose on to the bleed nipple. which you should wire brush up wd40 and check it will open just before doing this job. get someone to push down on the pedal whilst open the nipple, then close it,then pedal up,then open it,then pedal down, keep doing this until only fluid and no air comes out..when all is well, move on to the next one. if your unsure at all..dont even start doing this job..safety is paramount
