B19LYB
Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had any pics of a induction kit fittted on a 330f e46 thinking of getting one for mine bit wanted to know how hard it is to fit etc and if I can just fit it in the same place the airbox is. Thanks
bodeye
Hi, What car do you have? Your profile states 320D, but you're asking for a 330F which I assume is some kind of typo? Also, what year E46? Cheers Jay
B19LYB
Oh darn I'm on my phone sorry, It's an e46 320d 02 plate manual 150 bhp
bodeye
Gotcha... runs the same filter as mine. K&N do not list a induction kit for the diesels - I assume that this is because it would run like a bag of s**t... I do know that the replacement panel filter fits petrol models which have induction kits listed for them. In theory, if a 320i replacement filter fits the 320d, then the induction kit should fit too... But you may need to play about with fuelling to get it to run right. Also, they list the same induction kit for the new shape 320d's Cheers Jay Edited October 4, 2012 by bodeye
bodeye
... I've fired an email off to K&N and I'll let you know their response... Dear Sir/Madam, I currently own the above car and I was wondering whether an Air Intake kit would fit? You guys currently list a E-2653 replacement filter for my car (which I have fitted), but I have noticed that you list the same replacement filter and a 57A-6042 Intake Kit for the later 2007 model. Is there any particular reason why you haven't listed this Intake Kit for the earlier diesel model too? Could it be a fuelling issue which a remap could fix? Looking forward to your reply. suhail97
Is it because the intake is oval and k&n only do round fittings? I had this with an old megane I had, Every engine in the range could have one apart for the one with an oval intake.
bodeye
This is their reply: Hello Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately we did not develop a suitable kit for the E46. The E90/91 has the same air box as the E46 but there are intake differences regarding performance induction kits. Regards
B19LYB
Ahh okay cool thanks for that, I might just leave it alone for now. Might look at decat, egr and remap Thanks!

Rich_D
I have a K&N for my 330d, it's technically classed as a panel filter, but is essentially just a massive cone filter like an induction kit, that lives inside the standard airbox It is huuuuuge though You can probably get one for the 320d as well, but unless you are remapping or doing other mods where the engine needs to breath better, it's probably not worth it. There is no noise increase.
zainey
the 320d one is smaller in length. Go British. go Pipercross.

zainey
mine gained mpg with a better flowing filter for sure!
LukeD
No real reason just my opinion, just don't see them gaining much and they sound terrible with a performance filter, but each to there own
johnny330i
Deisels love a good panel filter. You wont find an 'induction kit' as such as the filter is integrated into the engine covers etc, it doesnt have a seperate airbox like the petrols. Your best option is a drop in replacement
Dave-Scott-DJ
I have the K&N filter fitted to my 320d. I fitted it after doing a remap and made a great difference. Well worth looking at IMO.
