Recommended Posts

I got sick of seeing my parcel shelf speaker covers looking patch so I set to work.

So this is what my speaker cover looked like before I started.

Using some 1500 grit wet/dry paper with water i gently sanded the old brushed aluminium effect layer off

To highlight the Harman Kardon logo i masked up the cover and using 5 wheel silver (or what every you have) gave it two coats as shown

The other option is to mask the speaker up just leaving the sanded black section and spray the whole piece silver or any colour you choose but this option will no highlight the logo.

I did mine when i had my coupe,as the silver had gone funny on mine. I rubbed it with car polish thinking it was an actual strip of aluminium but it started taking silver paint off!!

I cut a thin strip of masking tape and stuck it along the "harmon kardon" then i masked up the speaker grill part and sprayed the strip hammerite silver. Pealed off the masking tape and once fitted the line of the edge of the paint didnt really show. Lucky result!

Oh yeah, after the silver strip was dry i masked this area plus the outside plstic rim and then sprayed the grill area gloss black. Looked spot on.
