feva
You did do as mentioned in previous posts and tell the seller (Greg if I remember) that the replacement leather was for a gear knob with silver collar at the bottom? Done mine and a few other lads have done their's no problem. Sent using voice control "sorry?"
blynham
Did you have any trouble getting the silver bit to move. Can't get the f***er to move!
feva
Did you have any trouble getting the silver bit to move. Can't get the f***er to move! Boil the kettle put some water in a small glass in insert your knob into the hot water for 5mins it softens the glue that holds it in place. Volandok
Great idea. Thanks for the post. How hard would you say it was to get the pieces off and ready to wrap? Are there holes under the trim?
bennno2005
I had a go at this over the weekend. Didn't work for me sadly. I put the knob in boiling water as suggested which did nothing. Then upped the game and put it in the oven (about 150) then nothing. Back into boiling water for another 5 mins and nothing. Eventually with persuasion from a small screwdriver the silver collar gave way but not before it cracked. Just ordered a new knob which relieved me of £53.76. dhutch
I splashed the cash on this having bought a car with a dead knob, BMW Official Ebay wanted £63 inc postage, BMW Stoke (knights) wanted £63+postage, but Cotswold BMW did it for £53 inc postage down from £58 because they had taken an hour to ring back. Bloody happy with that. Silly money still really, but it makes me happy every time I look at it, so whatever... Daniel
suhail97
Good write up, if your gear knob isn't too worn then refurb it - why spend £60 on a new one? **Does everyone in the world have a glass pyrex measuring jug?

Well £53, less £6 for the leather, and I think £9 for the top plastic which separated, so £38. - Who knows, I had just bought the car, was feeling extravagant, and dont regret it. Each to our own!
