richard300
Great thread - i have used basic versions of these kits or similar to refurb bolsters (in the same colour) but never done a dark to light. However, there are many cars i have walked away from, because they had an all black interior, when i would have liked a bit of colour - So this process is very interesting to me. Going by the bolsters i have done (heavy wear areas) using the foam sponge (not used an airbrush) i can confirm that the longevity of these coloring kits is very good!! May i ask - All in. Including all the extra canisters and other sundries, how much did you spend on materials? Thanks, Richard. sean_mc_83 and sive s

TriggerFish
Looks good Sive. Not sure it's a colour I'd choose, but better than black! Depending on your uni choice, will I be seeing it around any time soon? The red ones look stunning too. I had red leather in my RX-8 and wasn't a huge fan (maybe as the car was mica red?), but it works well on the e46's! Still prefer my alcantara mind sean_mc_83
sive s
Looks spot on mate! I bet your well happy with the outcome! I want to do just my door cars putter sections in black but fair play mate! This looks awesome! Cheers mate. Yeaqh i am. My mum sat in the car the first time. She was like it makes a massive difference. Funny bit is my mum is short, so when she sits on the sports seats , she cant see over the dash lol. hahah Have aago at it mate, just make sure you separate the leather from the doorcards. You will end up drilling or using a chisel too take the plastics tabs which hold the leather. to fix it get some screws and washers from homebase. I got the 3.5 mm X 19 mm screws . Easy to do mate. Gonna redo the front seats as they are really bad. Taking my time. But happy with the finish tho. After doing this , if i see my next car with a different interior . most probably will change it. Defo gonna do this again. Thanks cool mate, i must have spent like 120-130 quid with all the canisters etc. But next time i will be buying a compressor as it makes it easier. few of my mates have asked me to do there leather interior. Hope that helps mate. Looks good Sive. Not sure it's a colour I'd choose, but better than black! Depending on your uni choice, will I be seeing it around any time soon? Its cool, everyone has there own different taste. So its minor. Not a fan of black unless if its in a yellow car . Might be popping down to the area, but sadly didnt get into oxford brooks. Applied a few other places tho. Are you going to the Player event in september. Come down for that. Red was one of my choices , but its done to many times with the grey cars thats why. Was looking at one of mates alcantara interior looks nice. Edited August 25, 2013 by sive s

Rebel
Cheers mate, that's very generous of you, much appreciated Need to sort a few little bits out first then take a view on whether I keep her or look for something new. I think it will be the former as I've 'invested' far too much money and time getting it to this stage only to lose what I've spent...

Rebel
Teej I have an idea! I will swap you my black leather interior for your M3 interior. That way you can have a go at dyeing it to what ever colour you please without the stress and worry of ruining the M3 leather, which will be nice and safe in my car. Docz2K9
Just a heads up to anyone who wants to do this . . do the sponge coats until its near enough perfect colour & only use the airbrush when you need to remove the sponge marks. The airbrush uses much more paint & 10x as quick as the sponge does. I bought the XL kit for £105 & its covered 2 interiors (i should have some left over too) Sponge for colour / airbrush for perfect finish! sive s
Jasesapphy
suprised you got 2 interiors out of it. I have around 250ml left from doing a single interior.
