agd320i
When I bought my car there was an all singing all dancing single DIN Pioneer in it, which I removed within ten minutes of taking delivery, i would like to have Car Play but there is no way i'd fit that head unit in the dash... i suspect some time during 2015 Andrive will have come up with a solution for the OE look
ljs4
It appears that they won't be putting Car Play on their latest double din called App Radio. Alpine will also be supplying Car Play soon. I will be fitting a double din soon and would like to keep the OE look but I'm not sure if Andrive is worth £600. I'm tempted to fit a parrot asteroid SMART which has a version of Android software designed for a radio instead of a tablet. It would be nice if the guys at Andrive made a Car Play device but I think it's a long shot and would have to be jailbroken.
mit
Andrive, nor any other of the Chinese ones will support carplay. It's never going to be certified on a device that runs android, you can be sure of that! App radio probably runs android too Edited April 17, 2014 by mit

DennisCooper
Hi, Apple will most likely only license carplay with reputable, well established and high quality brands - none of the Chinese companies will spend the funds needed to make their unit's much better in terms of internal electronics and reliability etc to support the carplay OS. That said, you never know, perhaps one of the chinese brands (or more) will make a much better quality product and get licenced by Apple ?! ljs4 - keep in mind also that the Parrot Asteroid Smart uses high grade internal IC's and components, automotive grade materials and manufacturing to ensure a high quality and reliable product is produced. The user interface and operating system are tailored for a car audio environment and work well with the high quality internal electronics and thus, features. Essentially, the unit is a tablet pc that's been optimised for use in a car and just happens to be around 8-9cm deep. Cheers, Dennis! That's why I think it will have to be a jailbroken version if that's even possible. I agree with you about the Parrot unit. It's also a fair bit cheaper than the Andrive unit and although it doesn't look OE, I think it looks okay in an E46. I'm currently hunting for a relocation unit so that I can fit a Double Din. If there hasn't been any development with Car Play by the time I find one then I'm going to buy the Parrot unit.

Andrive
Why car play when you can mirror and control your entire IPhone or iPad screen and audio output on an Andrive? Oh did I say that out loud!? Silly me. Rebel

After much debate, I'm very interested to buy one but am worried that you might release a newer version in the near future. Go on - persuade me... Oh did I say that out loud!? Silly me. You can control an Apple device from a WIN CE/Android device? I've just removed my AppRadio from another car and that works pretty well with an iphone once jailbroken & running AppRadio extensions: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=bl7_1Y-gE8w

After a long period of deliberation I placed an order for one today which will be fitted this week and on display at Incarnations in Brighton this weekend. If you're down that way, on Saturday, come and have a play
