Jamie's 330ci Cabriolet

couple of large updates.

I want to keep the 330 as nice as it is now, this means not putting too many miles on it, and with it not being the most practical car or efficient car in the world, i thought it would be a good idea to buy a cheap diesel. I plumped for a Mk4 Golf pre-PD 110BHP GT TDI in satin silver with Koni adjustable suspensnion, full Recaro heated leather, 16" Montreal BBS alloys all wrapped in Michelin Primacy tyres & 216000 miles (so just run in!) So this has taken over daily duties now & is great for throwing crap in the back & acheiving over 50 MPG :)

The day after i bought the golf i went down to see my mate in manchester who's got an exhaust place. Me, Lloyd & Darren all went down, unfortunatley due to time restrictions only Me & Lloyd had our secondary Cat's removed, Daz & LLoyd are going back in a week or so to have the resonators removed & Daz both items removed. I think after a few days of 'running in' mines got a bit louder & throatier, that and i've drilled the air box :lol:

Then it was fuelled society on sunday, which was a nice drive up for me & the Mrs (she took her 1 series)

the car acheived a nice 30 mpg, also whilst there i managed to sell my wheels to Adam who was on our clubstand

So that evening off to my mate round the corner to fetch soome style 32's (e38 deep dish versions)

they were fitted, the jack exploded & dented my drivers door :(

then yesterday i had the 225/40 rear tyres removed & fitted some 215/40s for more clearance, also re-furbished the lips as they had some quite severe kerbing

the weather looks like we wont get wet later at least m8....you got them refurbed in double quick time m8 its weird but they seem to fill the archs more than the csl's did even though they will both have the same rolling radius

Looking great Jay, style 32's are a winner. I wouldn't mind a set but they go for such strong money. Thinking about removing the 2nd cats on mine too.

I also enjoy driving my Mrs car daily, then mine stays clean and dent free!

thanks Gaz mate yeah they were rough these ones & needed tyres so were a good price but are few & far between! You should defo do the 2nd cats to compliment your resonator delete!

I just hope i dont neglect using the BMW as i think the golf is so cheap on fuel :lol:

Hi Jay, you notice much difference with the 2nd cats removed ?? Performance wise and or sound ? It's something iv thought about, that or the resonator removed ? Throw up any waring lights with the cats out ? Mines pretty loud as it is as the rear powerflow back box is tiny ;) sounds great though just after a few more Decibels;)

I'm a bit disappointed the CSL's are gone mate but I understand why. Is it me, or do those decat pipes look restrictive as f**k?

I dunno mate, you mean coz of the angles or the dia of the pipe? Its the same widths but obviously a bit more angular, it feels deffo more free flowing now anyhow!

Well done Jamie, it's looking better than ever now. Bad news about the jack exploding, maybe time to buy your Mrs a trolley jack for her birthday?

mate, Lloyd has a poweflow back box & just had the same thing done, its not easy to tell on instagram videos etc, but they defo make a difference! not so much in the cabin but on a drive by & stood behind it they sound ace!! no EML lights etc.

At the moment mines a little boomy in the cabin which personally i dont mind :thumbsup: its only others who complain ! Might look into that then when im back on the road ! any difference in performance ?

Just a little bit more low down grunt in higher gears , if you set off in 2nd it seems to pull a bit better but could well be a placebo

And possibly a combination of the lighter 18" bmw wheels ? :thumbup:

Stunning motor mate, shame about the csl's going though, as much as I like the style 32's I loved the csl. How come you got rid of them?
