bennno2005
Finished up the heated seats over the weekend both are now in the car and working perfectly. Bit difficult to photo heated seats but you can see in the pic where I stuck the button for them. I'd recommend doing it to anyone who wants them. Its time consuming but I reckon it cost me less than £50. B0B and Shabaza

bennno2005
Very nice job with the seats how did you find splitting them down Not as bad as I thought it would be to be honest mate. I took photo's of before so I knew which bits went where when putting them back together. First thing to note (and I learned from mistake) is you need to make sure the seat is adjusted in the right position (as high as it will go) to get to all the bolts to remove the base. The leather covers are held on to wires embedded in the foam with metal hog rings, some of these can be pulled apart and clamped back together after but some need to be cut. On the ones that I had to cut I just used small cable ties. I didn't remove the leather off the backs completely just enough to get the elements up into the top of the seat. I've got a few photo's and details of what parts are needed if anyone wants to have a bash in their car. Obviously if you have the lumbar support installed you'll have to find somewhere else to put the button. bennno2005
great job Ben, Looks OEM! Cheers mate. Obviously OEM has the button below the AC controls. I saw a few guides showing how to do this and was put off as it looked like a nightmare trying to do it with non genuine seat elements. Plus doing it this way means I've filled in a blank button and it makes sense to me having it with the other seat controls. I've wired it properly though taking a new switched live from the fusebox using a BMW connector so its on the seats have their own circuit with a fuse in the box. bennno2005
Had a set of eagle eye facelift lights turn up today. £100 off eBay for a brand new set from Germany. Bargain. Mrs is flying tonight so put them on the car when I got home. Before Old light out and looking grubby Cleaned up Comparison All done Really happy with my rear end now! Quality of the lights seems great for the money! Also had time to split the rest of my spare wheels so they're all ready to go to the powdercoaters at the weekend. Going for chrome barrels and silver centres so should look pretty similar to standard but more durable than diamond cut / polished rims.

bennno2005
Managed to get my spare key working this weekend with a change of battery and a reprogramme. Unfortunately I also attempted to change the leather on my gearknob. This didn't go so well as the glue in the silver plastic bit wouldn't melt (tried boiling water, even sticking it in the oven and it just cracked when I tried to prise it apart. So now I need a new one Should be getting my wheels back from the powder coaters tomorrow and have another set of Eagle F1's to be fitted to them on Friday! If anyone wants the set of Style 71's that are on the car at the moment (with good Eagle F1's and Dunlop SP's) then drop me a PM. bennno2005
Just ordered my new knob - £53.76. I'd probably rather have lived with the old worn one If I'd known how this was going to pan out!
bennno2005
Minor updates - Knob turned up. Brilliant service from Cotwold - £8 discount and ordered yesterday afternoon arrived 8am this morning. Gonna give it some gliptone and coat with lifeshine - hopefully this might make it blend in with my interior a bit better. Also picked my wheels up from the powder coaters. Fairly happy with how they've come out. The chrome is a bit duller than I expected which I'm pleased about; however the sparkle silver centres aren't quite as sparkly as I'd hoped. Still for £140 for all 4 I'm happy. I've got new centre caps to go with them and I've just had a set of Eagle F1's turn up at work this morning so should have the wheels built up, tyres on and back on the car by Friday. Gonna give them a few coats of poorboys wheel sealant before I rebuild so hopefully they'll stay pretty Few pics: They do look better in the light but looking forward to seeing what they look like on the car now! bennno2005
Always regretted selling my knackered clubsport splits, good on you for getting them sorted man. Thanks mate! I really like the standard wheels and they aren't that much hassle to sort really. The exterior will be pretty much perfect once I've got these on and given it a detail

bennno2005
I couldn't agree more. All built up now, getting tyres fitted Friday so will have them on the car by the weekend! Daz 330 Cs
bennno2005
Right first up got the tyres fitted and the wheels balanced up on Friday ready to fit Saturday morning. I've had the car almost a year and still haven't polished so on Saturday I got up early and spent the day on the car. It was a blistering hot day which was a pain in the arse because It made me sweat profusely and also I had to keep moving the car about to keep the area I was working on in the shade. So anyway here's what I did Washed it - I just used some cheapo comma stuff I got from Charlies the other week which does the job and smells nice. I use the two bucket method with a microfiber mitt De-tared it using Autoglym intensive tar remover Clayed using Dodo Juice clay & lube Corrected the paint using the DA and Meguiars correction compound Polished the paint using the DA and Meguiars finishing wax Polished the glass using the DA with Autoglym glass polish Sealed the paint using Autoglym Lifeshine (for professional use only ) Waxed the newly refurbed wheels inside and out with 3 coats of Poorboys wheel sealant and one coat of Bilt Hamber Autobalm Did the tyres with Meguiars Endurance tyre gel Did the scuttle panel and black bits around the windshield with Autoglym bumber and trim gel. Didn't get round to doing the interior or engine bay and I thought I'd leave it a few days for the lifeshine to go off before washing again and waxing with the Autobalm. Here's the results anyway - pictures aren't the best as it was a little bit too sunny and I only had my phone with me. B0B

MRyan
That looks fantastic mate, I miss having estoril blue! Sell me the car? Cheers how did you find using a DA? I've been considering investing after putting a bit of a scratch in mine removing a bird poo (idiot).
bennno2005
That looks fantastic mate, I miss having estoril blue! Sell me the car? Cheers how did you find using a DA? I've been considering investing after putting a bit of a scratch in mine removing a bird poo (idiot). Thanks mate means a lot! I love the Colour - best thing about the car really. I've thought of selling a few times but I owe a bit of money after buying the house so couldn't put any cash on top for anything else and don't know what else I would buy with the money. I'm far from a pro but with a DA you can't really go wrong and its so much easier than polishing by hand! I didn't following the instructions on the polish exactly as I did spray a bit of water on the head which helped keep the pad cleaner and stopped it getting too hot. I only had the one light scratch on the roof to remove which came out after 3 or 4 passes with the correction compound. I did the whole car with the correction compound to remove swirls. I Imagine it would be a worth while investment especially with a black car! Edited August 10, 2015 by ben.embrey

bennno2005
Thank you Just ordered some 15mm spacers for it all round. Should hopefully fill the arches a little bit! Also considering going for amber indicators all-round. I'm a big fan of them but not sure how they would look on Estoril. bennno2005
Right few more pics. Since the time I posted I've put on 15mm spacers all round, repainted my front splitters and re-aligned my front bumper as it was hanging a bit on the drivers side. Also did the inside of the car using gliptone cleaner & conditioner and sealed it with lifeshine then washed it and put a layer of bilt hamber auto balm on it.
