negev
So I'm going to change all my speakers soon, and then after that am considering putting in a 4-channel amp. Ideally I'd like to do the install myself but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. I've already got RCA connections and power in the boot for the amp that drives the sub, so I guess I then just need to run wires from the new amp to each speaker individually, is that right? Which I guess means taking out the rear parcel tray, and lots of interior trim to get to the door speakers... maybe this is a job for a professional
Ashley1995
Yeah, plus you need a 'remote' from the head unit - this turns the amps on when the head-unit is on so it doesn't drain your battery. If you already have an amp you can jump this from that one. Plus an earth, then after that its just to the speakers
autosri
Either that or run the wires to behind the headunit then find all the speaker wires on the wiring loom I presume you have an aftermarket headunit if so you will have two plugs one with 5 or 6 wires then another with 8 in thats the one your after Disconnect it from the headunit and cut the plug off and join your amp wires there No running wires to rear speakers or through doors ect much easier

negev
Get your hands dirty lol It's a bit too much of a job for me I'm gonna do the door speakers and sound deadening but running wires from one end of the car to the other is a bit much. I have a knack for breaking bits of plastic all over the car trying to take off trim lol
autosri
What kit you going for then
negev
What kit you going for then The amp is a 4-channel JL, not sure what model but I trust the guys there know what they're doing. Front speakers are the Rainbow IQ custom fits, and the sound deadening is Silent Coat. Rear speakers are Focal 130s which I'm not terribly keen on, but the guys at the car audio place said don't bother changing them as the difference will be marginal, so gonna leave them in for now and see how it all sounds when the rainbows and the new amp are in.
