Chrissyp83
Hi guys Shortly going to be going for a diff oil change, however I am struggling slightly with ordering the correct viscosity - Am I right in thinking I need 75w-90? there seems to be differing opinion across forums and net and even opie oils varies between 75w-85 and 75w-140 - though the majority seem to opt for 75w-90. Also is 1 litre enough? If its 75w-90 the link below is the oil I will be purchasing ... unless suggested otherwise by someonehttp://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-737-castrol ... 5w-90.aspxCar details E46 330D SE M-Sport Auto 2000
R11CH
I put Castrol Long Life 75w-90 in mine a couple years ago now, been fine and made the diff a little quieter. You will need 2 litres as its something like 1.3 litres to fill it up. Chrissyp83

marc l
I've been wanting to do mine for ages but have never known what oil oil to put in. What are you going with Chrissyp83? And where are you getting it from?
Chrissyp83
I've been wanting to do mine for ages but have never known what oil oil to put in. What are you going with Chrissyp83? And where are you getting it from? Gonna go with the castrol in the link above, gonna get it from opie oils too. carshops like gsf and ecp seem to stock cr4p, the local car shops dont have much of a range and tbh in the opie oils spec BMW is listed. There are other options - like Fuchs, was gonna go redline from the states as they say thats the best but its quite pricey and tbh castrol is pretty good! Fuchs below http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-983-fuchs-titan-sintopoid-sae-75w-90-synthetic-gear-oil.aspx if you want to have a look yourself, hover over CAR (top left) go down to SHOP BY SPEC go across and click BMW click on GEAR OIL Edited August 24, 2015 by Chrissyp83
ArfurSleep
Don't know if diesels are different from petrol engined models but i bought 2 litres of Castrol (formally SAF-X0) 75w-90 Synthetic Final Drive Lubricant. Also read that some use Redline 75w-90. Chrissyp83

ArfurSleep
You're welcome Chrissy, didn't check your initial link as i was keen to flip over to another site. When i was searching I spent ages trawling the net looking for answers but most of the results came up with Castrol being the preferred choice.
