My E46 has problem with the parking sensors. I have cleaned all the sensors and all are clicking when you put your ear next to them.

Sometimes it beeps as soon as you put it in reverse and sometimes there are no beeps at all no matter how close you are to something. What else could it be?

If they are clicking when you put your ear next to them then this would suggest the sensors are working.

I would look at the speaker and the PDC brain next :D Of course hope its the speaker as this is far cheaper ;)

If you have someone near you with PDC on there E46 best to try swapping the brains etc to see whats happening, then you will know what to replace B)

Had this problem a while back, sometimes when i engage reverse, i would get a long bleep

looked into this on other forums, and was told the same thing, if they were clinking then the

sensors were OK,

but this isn't really true.......yes the sensors were all clinking, but i did have a faulty one

got a new one from BMW, and just changed each one.....one at a time until i found the

one that was faulty..............and then all was working great, and still is..................

I have the exact same problem... would be interested in know what the potential resolution is... I havnt bothered with it much as I'm used to not have any parking aids.

Mine were working fine then all I'd get was the constant beep telling me I was very close (without any broken beeps initially) and now nothing... About a week ago they did work, with the contact beep...

I have recently fitted some angel eyes with the remote feature so was fiddling about under the steering where... which is where the speaker for the PCD is, or so I'm told... It could be that I've managed to disturb a connection there... it's more likely the sensors though... apparently they can still be faulty even if they're clicking... mine are all clicking.

Mine just stopped working recently, I have not tied to fix them at all yet. How much for a new sensor and how easy is it to pop them out and change them?

anyone got a part number for them?

I've replaced all 4 of mine recently.. Got 2 from BMW (as I didn't know better at that point) for approx £70 each, replaced these. Worked for a while, then another blew! Got the whole set of BM Mini Parts for £130 (the whole PDC kit including the speaker, 4 sensors and everything). Not seen one on the site since though..

Replaced the other 2 as a matter of precaution. All working fine now!

The sensors are relatively easy to replace on a sport saloon bumper.. Just use a screwdriver to pry out the black side-strip, once thats out you can then pry out the black trim which houses the sensors. Once you have the trim out - its just a case of pushing the sensor out with your thumb (might be a twist then push). Little clip on the sensor to undo it. Done!

I replaced the last two on mine in 15mins whilst it was slightly raining! :)

Quarry motors do some 2nd hand sensors at a reasonable price. It may be worth getting one off them and trying what tme4562 said and just replace one at a time to see if its just the one faulty sensor. Either that or get it on diagnostics and that will tell you exactly what the problem is..

yes it seems to be the same problem

I had one censor not working so replaced it with aftermarket one ...still nothing but all censors are clicking but the new one sounds a bit different

got system scanned and was told it was the control box so replaced it and still nothing working

has anyone had a problem with aftermarket censors or can anyone tell me the resistance value of the genuine censors or is there another test

found the cure

removed the complete unit and measured the resistance on all censors ...average 12.70 ohms wd40 all the contacts because some would read resistance then blank out as if bad contact

WD40 did the trick just placed the censors onto the connectors facing them to the ground

had a constant beeeeeeeeeeeeep so lifted each one and placed so they faced to rear

still a constant beeeeeeeeep till I lifted the last one and then no beeeep

fitted back into the PDC trim and yepppppppp everything works

so if you have all censors ticking possibly there is a bad connection

worked for me hope it works for you

Hi there I have a 3 series 320d touring with faulty parking sensors, just a long beep when initially engaged then stops! I’ve cleaned all the sensor faces and checked all connections but still no joy any advise or help would be greatly appreciated
