krishaldo
After 5 years of owning a 2000 325ci, I'm looking to get a newer car. The idea being that I turn the old car into a track day beast and blast it until it dies. My question is about the new car. I'm looking at a 2010 BMW 318d face lift model. Bit boring but will get the thrills from the old car (that's the plan anyway!!). It's got 100k miles though. Is that high? I know the 6 pots last forever (mine has 215k miles on it) but wondered what the diesels were like? I've heard that whilst you save on fuel, when something goes wrong it costs a lot more. Advice appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Any less than 15k a year and I probably wouldn't bother, due to the common faults and cost of repairing. Wouldn't worry about mileage too much though 100k on a 5 year old cars implies its done 20k a year so probably spent a lot of it on the motorway. Wouldn't fancy a car (especially derv) with low mileage as its likely been used on short trips with a cold engine (something that diesels with DPF's and EGR's really dont like!) Buy on condition / history rather than mileage is my advice. Edited February 1, 2016 by bennno2005
