muly
It seems that this video is a bit miss leading, in dealership we used to slacken off the bolt lift the handle to approx half free play and tighten the bolt at the same time, also worth mentioning the bolt has a left hand thread which I think explains a few peoples problems. Once adjusted the mechanism needs lubricating some sort of spray grease is best (do it with window up) use a can with a long tube and spray though the access holes and down the side of the outer handle in the upward position. Hope this helps. echo the above s spender is 100% right, the bolt needs to be slackened off first before you tighten it up, otherwise you run the risk of stretching the bolt and damage to the threads or worse
Guest
Damn I was hoping that this would work on my drivers side! I recall many years back on my 330ci I had the same issue and the doorcard had to come off and there was a simple fix of cable tieing 'something' together to that there wasn't as much slack in the mechanism - any ideas? My memory is rubbish and can't for the life of me remember what the fix was!
drewjak
i found that if you put the window down first, then loosen the bolt off shut the door , open it from the inside handle,( as the external one will not work) and then retighten the bolt ..the door works fine again

Thats my understanding of it too, and my driver side is like this. I tried it and didn't do anything, I tried the window down method and sprayed some WD40 down there for good measures and lasted all of 2 days and now its sticking again! Anyone have any other ideas? other than taking the doorcard off and investigating?
pablo
my drivers door is pretty hard to release compared to the pass one. little screw is fully tight. Anything else that can cause stickyness? I need to give it a good pull to open it.
muly
pablo- Did you slacken the screw off first ? as it needs to be loosened off so the adjuster can take up the slack, and then tighten the screw.

Knuckle
Tried this on the weekend, seems i should have read it properly - Mine wouldnt tighten anymore, well, a very small amount. So reading the different methods, it seems to work by loosening first, then re tightening it again? I remember on my last one i stripped the thread and it went back on itself lol. Dont need to mess about with the handle?

genbloke
Did this on mine but has not helped anybody got any suggestions ? Have you tried spraying lube in the areas where the handle enters the door? Do it with the door handle pull out in the "open" position.
