Global33
I've recently bought a 320d. First BMW and I'm very happy with it, despite the age. However I'd like to be able to listen to my own tunes and have hands free, so the stereo needs to be changed. Would this kit do everything I need, including keeping the steering wheel controls working? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-Series-E46-Steering-Wheel-Stalk-Control-Interface-Lead-Stereo-Radio-Facia-/152212598803?hash=item237093f013:g:Rq8AAOSw6n5XuDdm
jamesfoley
Looks like the right harness for the older round pin connector, you just need to be careful with the connection for the steering wheel controls. I know I had to buy a little cable that connected to the steering wheel control box that was specific to the brand of headunit I had. Pretty sure I used Autoleads PC99-X21 harness when I did mine and my friends.
Global33
Thank you. That does actually ring bells for when I did it in my Mondeo. I shall be fitting a Sony. Phoned Halfords and whilst there price for the head unit was reasonable, they wanted £40 for the other parts! jamesfoley
Yea I've been stung in the past by them for harnesses, but on the plus side if something breaks or doesn't fit / work, they're only a stones throw away from my house Sorry I can't be of much help regarding the eBay item though. Global33
It's ok, you prompted me in what I needed and found this. Going to buy the stereo from Halfords as they are actually as cheap as online, but have my local friendly mechanic who I bought the car from fit it. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350529611057?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Global33
Got a nice Sony head unit today. Amazingly the cheapest place was Argos, including all the online places!
Global33
The stock speakers are pants. They were better in my Mondeo.
