Daytime Running Lights ? Activated But Not Sure What To Expect

Recommended Posts

I have a BMW 2004 330D M sport with factory fitted xenons.

I've had the DRLS activated.

Now what am I supposed to expect? When I put the lights dial into the automatic position there is nothing on. Same with 0 position. However if I put it on the number 2 position, everything comes on. If I turn the ignition completey off with the lights in the full on position everythig goes off, whereas before the DRL activation, there would be the low beam things on.

So is the DRL for me just xenons on 24/7 now and I can just leave the switch in the 2 position and not worry about anything ?

I thought the DRLs where high beam lowered or something on..

I did a google search but I came back with such a huge mixed reply of opinions.

Some say the xenons are DRLS, some say the high beam is the DRL, some say you should just leave it in auto and the low beam should be on constantly etc etc etc !

Not quite sure what the problem is here ? DRL's are NOT main Beam , nor are they Dipped Beam .

None of what you have just said makes any sense . Left in Auto , Low beam will not be on constantly ? :)

And OP , what do you mean when you say you've had them Activated ? 330's don't come with DRL's

Righto, spoke with my independant and he said the DRL for my car is xenons on constantly. So now I can turn my light switch all the way to the right and never touch them again. Whereas if I did that before activating DRLs the sidelights would have stayed on when I turned the car off causing drain on the battery.

I have GT1 so I activated them through that.

in 2011 its going to be compulsary to have DRL isnt it?

so i thought you could have your car programmed to have them on...

I think it's just compulsary for all new cars made to have them. Will probably just be like volvo's with the dipped beams on all the time.

Our Cars are not fitted with DRL Dude , as Simon says if you want dipped beam on , turn the LCM 2 clicks to the right ....dont see the issue :)

na they arent mate... but i think you can get DRL enabled using the software mate... thus you not having to turn the LCM on or anything again....

i think BMW's do have the feature, its just disabled

i think...dont qoute me on that

Daytime running lights are just your sidelights on all the time.

I don't see what the big deal is, it's not as if it's dark during daytime. :)

I just have mine on auto and they switch on as and when necessary. :)

Yeah im with mikey, and sometimes when its dusk i will stick the angels on just because i like the look of it!

I know all bikers are supposed to have their lights on regardless but thats only to make it easier to spot the buggers!
