Gary Gill
Hi, i've seen some alloys i want but they are the following spec: (will be going on a 320cd se & lowered) 18x8.5 et40 front and 18x9.5 et20 rear i have read et20 would be too great and protrude the arch right? I don't mind putting stretched tyres on, as that what us dub people do anyways. (I am previous vw/dub owner) But i would like to know much et20 would stick out? anyone made this spec work on a none M model? Pics would be great if anyone has. Thanks
luke
This is the most common question on here, the fit is s***e, you need circa 35 et to fit. There is a lad one who has done it on here, massive camber (some would say too much, i think it looks s***, my opinion only), massive stretch on tyres. Another person has done it and still has loads of scrubbing after arch rolling etc. Knock it on the head and buy wheels that fit.
///Marty
X2, Unless you want to get into serious archwork then its better just to keep searching for something with a higher offset. That one is aggressive for an M car let alone a non m.
Natedogg
roll and pull the arches, run a 225/35x18 tyre that know for stretch lie a nangkang or falken and you'll need coilovers and adjustable camber arms. you'll not go low and you'll tyres will get eaten, as for hadeling god knows but it'd look fully sick if you can pull it off mate..... In other words, its not worth all the hassle just for a set of wheels.
Natedogg
depends on how much you want the wheels......
KSG
depends on how much you want the wheels...... True, but why waste all that money on arch mods, coilovers etc. PLUS the cost of the rims & tyres. In the end you dont get the stance you want and your rubber is going to get worn away very quickly, whats the point?
Daz 330 Cs
As above Dude , find a set of wheels designed to fit you're motor , much less hassle . Its no good it looking "Sick" if you are going through tyres like theyre going out of fashion
Gary Gill
i wouldn't want to get arch work done. Thanks for the advice people. Is anyone on here running stretched tyres & poke? cos i get the feeling everyone is really against it.

I've got stretched rubber all round, In my opinion deep dish wheels look 100 times better with stretched tyres. (not a great pic, but its the only one I had at hand)

No not at all, but negative camber only looks good if it is subtle, in true dub style of subtlety. But when you have 45 degree of camber just to fit the wrong wheel just seems daft. I'm runnin 9" rim with 35 or 32mm et (cant remember) at rear, i'm getting stretched tyres and maybe spacers/ arch rolling if i can be bothered, as it is the rim is pretty damn close to the edge, my car pictures are in photo zone. Gary Gill
hi luke. whats the ET on the rears of your lms? i'm really want to make et20 work. Here is what et 15 looks like on my old mk3 golf (factory et is 35-38) And old mk4 front et25 & rear et15 possibly archive summit similar. i know it's not to everyones taste. simonlpearce
Another person has done it and still has loads of scrubbing after arch rolling etc. Knock it on the head and buy wheels that fit. That would be me ET27 rear on a 19x9.5! Have had the arches rolled and pulled as far as can be and have a tasteful amount of camber and still get scrubbing, to the point where i have very little sidewall left on my tyre. If you dont want to have arch work done and you want to have her lowered you havent got a chance in hell of fitting ET20's on! In fact id be surprised if you could get anything less than ET27 on without the arch just sitting on top of the tyre. My advice is to give up on this one and buy some rims with a more suited offset! Daz 330 Cs
That black Golf looks Stunning , theres no point comparing the offsets tho against BMW wheels etc , totally different , plus it looks like its got 13" rims on
Natedogg
i'd say at a guess that uber sweet black mk3 is running 9x16 azev A's with 205/40x16's or 215/35x16's.

Cage
You already know my answer Gary. Spencer; you must go through rear tyres like crazy. That negative camber is mad.
Gary Gill
for those you ask this same question, it can be done. Spencer is a prime example. Here's a few pictures for those who are interested. Before i post them, Yes i know it's not to everyones liking, and probably start an arguement. But here goes, 'cos some people are after the stretched & poke look.. 18x9.5 et 20 rear 225/35/18 19x9.5, +16 Rear on 225/35/19's Rear: 17x9.5 et16 215/40, .. Front: 17x8.5 et 19 205/
Daz 330 Cs
Those pics remind me of a Drag car you know the ones where the rear wheels stick right out , obviously though the Drag car is doing a job . Its not a cool look on a Bmw .
