tkd
Sort of makes you feel good that a "normal place" cannot do it, but just wondered if it was boll*ks, has anyone else been to a "normal" place to get tracking done?

Deezer-D
They are actually right. BMW recommend putting 65Kg weights in the driver, passenger and centre of the rear seat before carrying out the KDS alignment. Not many places do it and BMW charge approx. 200 notes to do it - takes about 1.5 hours
bigdal
I had the same thing with Kwick fit.they tried 3 times and each time they couldnt get it right.i ended up with the steering wheel all off centre i just gave up with them in the end
Guest Gazb
i do this for a living and i am good at what i do bmw give these perameters as guidlines saying that this is the weight of a average person and if you do your geo with this followed your doing it when car is in a state of "play" doing a geo without this is fine if you know what your doing and bigdal its probably that your rear was out and the clowns at kwik fit could not work it out there are only 2 makes[although most need height perameters/weight perameters] of car that need weights or strapping down these are some mercs and wait for it some little peugeots if anybody wants a geo doing in the north ie manchester pop in and see me and i will do it for beer tokens and you can stand and watch and see whats going on
tkd
They didn't even look at the car, I told them the make and year and that was it. The only reason I want the tracking done is because the steering wheel is slightly out, would laser alignment sort it, or is that something that cannot be done either? simonlpearce
I took mie to a so called BMW specialist local to me and he said he couldnt do mine either, said it was too low!!!! Richy_Boy
I've yet to see KwikFit do tracking correctly on any car, so don't feel like you're missing out. Leaving one of there shops with a mis-aligned steering wheel is very common and causes problems with the DSC as there's an angle sensor on our cars. I don't know what area you're in, but if you're in the Reading area then go to Elite wheels & tyres who have a Hunter 4 wheel alignment system. They only charge £40 too, which is pretty good value. Daz 330 Cs
I dont see why a Bmw needs weight in the Car to check / adjust tracking , what makes it different form every other car out there
das_flo
Mine's going on a hunter next month when the bushes are done, i was reading on another forum this afternoon about a track car being lined up (on a hunter machine), he put his equivelent weight in the drivers seat before aligning. If it's good enough for him it's good enough for me.

CJM
I had mine done by Gaz with no weights and it was spot on till the bush went. Any protyre place should be able to do any car regardless of how low as there kit clips onto the rim not the tyre. Ps. Gaz the bumpers looking good. McPikie
MEGA BUMP - Best place in Manchester to have an E46 MSport touring tracked up? I've just done the lollipop bushes, so it needs looking over. Does the Msport have different settings to a standard car?
