Morning all

Terry2heads here

I have recently bought a 2001 325 ci m sport, and i must say straight off the bat i've had a complete arse kicking from this car

first day, locked the keys in the boot and the spare didn't unlock the car - cost me £70

Bought the car with a know wheel bearing gone...........well

my local mechanic called me up and told me he could'nt remove the drive shaft from the hub

this resulted in £30 for the wheel bearing and £70 for the drive shaft and hub.....he also told me the rear shocks where F***ked

Another £75...........spent

i had the car back from the mechanic last night and the dashboard is lit up like a christmas tree, ABS light on which has resulted in no F***king speedo

so i have just bought a new ABS rear sensor £52...

£297 spent on the car in two weeks

losing the faith with car..........................

Hi all

I'm Lee from Gloucester. Currently on the hunt for my e46.. I'm after some advice too, what to look for when buying etc.. I am after a 330d Sport facelift, but my budget means having to get a relatively high mileage car.. I have around 3k to spend, and have found a few at between 120k and 160k miles, do I steer clear?

Any advice welcome

Thanks a lot

Lee

Hi all,

I've been trying to find the most appropriate forum for my particular interest - and I think I've finally found it!

I was viewing this thread and suddenly felt like I was in the right place...

This is the post that I've been fielding on other forums, but haven't been getting much response - I reckon that's about to change now though :-)

My 21 year old son is in the army and is currently doing his 1st tour serving in Afghanistan, and on his return he wants to buy his first proper car.
He wants to buy a 3 series BMW convertible.
As he struggles to get a good internet connection over there, he's given me the task of researching these cars for him. I've never owned a BMW, and until a couple of days ago I knew nothing about them.

After plenty of Googling, getting insurance quotes, and messaging him for feedback, we've narrowed down the search somewhat. But we now need advice on some of the finer points.

Here's the wishlist so far:

  • 3 series
  • convertible
  • around £5000 budget
  • mileage under 80,000 (unless you think otherwise?)
  • 2.2 litre or 2.5 litre (unless you think otherwise?)

The approximate year that these criteria fit is 2003. As this is also the year that they brought out the facelift model, we want to know if getting the facelift model is a must, or if the previous model is still ok?

Thanks in advance, Mike.

Hi Guys,

My name is Ed Hopkins,
As our faithful company work horse we use an E46 320d Touring. I bought this around 6 months ago from someone, who to be honest almost ran the thing into the ground. Since then I have been frequenting this forum for help with repairs I've made and some of the strange problems Bimmers chuck our way from time to time.

I want to say thank you to all the amazing threads you owners have posted and I commend the helpful nature of this forum.

I hope to give a little back by helping with repair threads where possible.

Many thanks for the kind welcome. I look forward to being a part of this community thumbsup.gif

Cheers.

Ed.

Hi all,

My name's Will, and I'll be picking up my 323ci on Saturday as a 'sensible' alternative to my current car which is a 1991 Honda Beat two-seater mid-engined convertible Kei car. The example I'm getting is a bit worn (120k on the clock) but stll a lovely car considering how old it is. I'll be driving it up to uni next week so I should have a reasonable impression of the car by then.

Hi All!

I'm Rafael, 29, Software Engineer from Liverpool. Picking up my grey 320d M-Sport Coupe tomorrow. She is remapped to 190bhp and had swirl flaps removed.

Not sure If I'll be able to sleep at all tonight as all I do now is think about my new baby! It's my first BMW ever! She has only done 58k miles on the clock and is nice and clean! Haha

Before I buy I'll be connecting her to a computer via OBD and we will be also rising her up to check under the car just to be on the safe side!

Will post some more pictures soon!
