Matt
My M3's averaging just under 28mpg with a nice mix of driving. I'm impressed, as I thought it's be closer to 20mpg!
Jarra Dave
Not sure of all the mathematical ways of calculating mpg but my 323Ci auto is driven on a Friday from London to Newcastle, parks up all weekend at home, then back to London on a Mon morning and parked up all week; a journey of 278 miles each way. My display shows between 29.8 and 30.3 mpg. I drive around the national speed limit (ahem ) and don't hold back on acceleration and overtaking! suhail97
I've a 320d Touring I filled the tank, reset the clock and worked out my mpg manually on the next fill up (total miles covered / gallons to fill tank again) I averaged 39mpg and thats around town, usually with 2 adults 3 kids push chair in the boot, sometimes driving hard and its quite hilly by me which seriously effects mpg when going up hill. My OBC says I average 46mpg - so dont ever take your cars reading as true. I think I'd cry if I saw 17mpg with todays prices.

Haha I did a little trial - filled up the tank and drove around for a week as economically as i could, and got 24mpg non-motorway. This week I started driving properly again and its back down to 16! woohoo!

allymc
My 325Ci comes in at around 30mpg around town/Local runs and motorway work sees it well into the late thirties. Im quite impressed with that to be honest. If I'm really sensible and set the cruise at 60-65mph It will hold at 40mpg all day.

DaveDunlop
hmm, have you checked tyre pressures? cos that can effect mpg, and weight in the car? other than that i would expect to get nearly double that for 40quid.

theraven
hi lads right had car n diagnostic came back with dodgy cam sensor had it replaced to tell the truth cant feel no difference in the driving!! also i changed my throttle cable SO MUCH better.... but still my obc fuel never stays at a true stop and when i come to a stop it drops right down to about 10!!!!!! this ain,t normaol is it???? cheers raven
suhail97
Well when you come to a stop you're doing 0 miles per gallon. Did you reset the obc just before you cam to a stop. The obc works on the average since it was last reset, so if you reset it and went nowhere just left the engine on it'll read 0mpg same as you reset then free wheeled down hill you'd see 99.9mpg. Best thing to do is fill your tank, reset everything and do a manual mpg reading
Rickton
My 323 is extremely good on fuel, at least in comparison to my previous cars, all of which have been nothing more than 1.8 zetec ford engines. In fact, it is more economical than my previous car, 1.8 mondeo! Definately not something quite right with yours!
